I was wondering the same thinghow the f**k do you manage a salary cap if players are on incentive based contracts ? what if they do well and meet their objective and you bust the cap to make your commitment to them

Playing it out on social media isn't the answer, regardless of his on-field abilities. Now, I don't really care where he plays. He'll probably end up in England. Makes sense, shorter flight for the court case and all. Besides, playing pommy footy, he may be able to do a 2009 cameo.
Did we do that this year?In theory you could have your whole squad on incentive-based contracts, as long as they were competing directly with other players in the squad, such that if one achieved his bonus, the other could not. Of course, it would be a f**ken shambles, but you could do it.

Then you are a f**ken idiot.
With an incentive based contract you would have to plan for the higher amount. Preferably TPAs could be used as a buffer so that what is registered by the NRL isn't hideous.
It will never be a popular option but it could be very effective incentive for some players.

of course it will never be popular because it wont happen
if players dont reach their milestones, or what ever incentives are in place, you waste a lot of cap space and you are well under the cap and could have bought more players
and of course TPAs are more preferable, what club doesn't want Broncos dollars
I said earlier that The Special One is worth about 500K but more if we could get TPAs, thats a no brainer but they dont necessarily need to be incentive based

You won't bust the current year cap because of incentives. Appearance fees for 2019 cap would be assessed as 'number of games played in 2018 x appearance fee'. If you go over, you are not penalised in 2019, but the surplus is taken off 2020 cap. Bonuses for rep appearances are initially assessed based on whether the salary cap auditor believes they will earn the bonus in the current year. If the player earns a bonus that was not anticipated, the following year's cap is adjusted.
What do you mean 'It wont happen'? It already happens.of course it will never be popular because it wont happen

have you had experience with this Barry ?
The reason I ask as I've never read that previously.
Win bonuses and appearance fees – Payments for appearing in or winning a game are calculated based on the number of NRL games the player played in the prior year multiplied by any applicable bonuses. For win bonuses, the calculation is capped at 13 wins. Example: A player appeared in 10 NRL games in 2017 and now has a 2018 Contract for $100,000 contract fee plus $1,000 per game. His - Salary Cap Value would be $100,000 plus 10 times $1000 = $110,000.
- Other bonuses – Any other bonus contained in a player's contract will be calculated in the Salary Cap if the NRL Salary Cap Auditor expects him to achieve the bonus based on his prior year's performance.
Example: A player played State of Origin in 2017. His 2018 Contract includes a $20,000 State of Origin bonus. This bonus will be included in the player's 2018 Salary Cap Value.
Note: Where a bonus is achieved by a player but was not assessed in the player's Salary Cap Value, the bonus is carried forward and calculated in the player's Salary Cap Value for the following year.
Read the rules or if you are too lazy just read Barry's post.So play at a disadvantage under the cap just incase he plays well. Wouldn't it be the same as paying the full amount?
The club may save money but on the field it would be indetical.
These contracts only work for guys who are desperate for a chance.
What do you mean 'It wont happen'? It already happens.
But you were responding to someone that was talking about it for one personmaybe for the odd player but I am referring to managing a salary cap for all, or most players being on incentives
we dont have Broncos Dollars
It wont be a huge loss. If he costs 700k I reckon we could get just as good a player who is younger and less injury prone then a banged up 31yld.
Kane Linett is on his way our prayers are answered.Like who? Which younger outside back that can cover a range of positions worth around 700k is available that wants to come play for us next year?
And don’t say Ferguson as he is already signed. I’m talking available now instead of Hayne
