Jarryd Hayne - Make him an Eel for Life

Bernie said on radio today that there has been no contract sent to Hayne yet.
They wouldn’t send a contract if they haven’t agreed to terms.

But they could have offered initial terms and half a dozen amendments if Hayne is holding out for massive overs. There would be no contract until terms were agreed. Or we made a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

Or just go with what Barry said fifteen hours ago:
You won't bust the current year cap because of incentives. Appearance fees for 2019 cap would be assessed as 'number of games played in 2018 x appearance fee'. If you go over, you are not penalised in 2019, but the surplus is taken off 2020 cap. Bonuses for rep appearances are initially assessed based on whether the salary cap auditor believes they will earn the bonus in the current year. If the player earns a bonus that was not anticipated, the following year's cap is adjusted.

“The Dragons are bemused at reports they're set to offer the Eels star a contract for next season, calling it out for what it is: his management trying to force Parramatta into offering him a serious deal.

A brief discussion took place but the Dragons scoffed at the asking price. That was it.

In limbo: Jarryd Hayne is yet to re-sign with the Eels.NRL Photos

Expect more clubs to be touted as possible destinations for Hayne.

The Eels need to move players to find the money he's looking for and they're having trouble getting anyone to leave.

Thing is, Hayne finished the season very strongly. When he’s in the mood, the Hayne Plane can still fly.”

Obviously the above article could be crap but Webster is normally fairly reliable.

So interestingly it suggests dragons weren’t interested as Hayne was asking to much.

And it suggests we need to move players to meet Hayne’s asking price, so we probably do have cap space however it appears that Hayne wants a lot more then we are willing to (or able to) offer.

Tell him to get f**ked ... he is not worth the big coin anymore .... no way we should go back to the days where he chewed up our cap when he is more likely to miss half a season through injury
