My offer has gone down to $700k.

To much, he has only played more then 20 games once in a season since 2011:

2012 - 12 games
2013 - 15 games
2014 - 21 games
2017 - 17 games
2018 - 15 games

Plus there is potential damage to the eels brand (yes I know we have been pretty bad) from his 2020 court case. Also what type of season wouId he have if the case is a disaster for him. It’s a big risk for us.

Give him $600k for 2 years, a slight increase moreso as an acknowledgment that he did drop a lot of coin this year coming back to us. Have a clause that if he plays more than 20 games he gets an extra $50k, another $50k if we make the 8, and $100k if we win it.

I’m actually reducing my collection. Seriously thinking of selling my Tudor and Omega when the Rolex arrives.

Still splurging? The housing market has taken a hit. Save your dollars for a purchase around dec/Jan. Should be a few good buys around.

how the f**k do you manage a salary cap if players are on incentive based contracts ? what if they do well and meet their objective and you bust the cap to make your commitment to them

It's pretty common, SOO bonus, finals bonus, match payments, etc etc. The NRL have formulas for it which see some of the cap liability moved onto the following year, averaging and so on.

- Win bonuses and appearance fees – Payments for appearing in or winning a game are calculated based on the number of NRL games the player played in the prior year multiplied by any applicable bonuses. For win bonuses, the calculation is capped at 13 wins. Example: A player appeared in 10 NRL games in 2017 and now has a 2018 Contract for $100,000 contract fee plus $1,000 per game. His - Salary Cap Value would be $100,000 plus 10 times $1000 = $110,000.

- Other bonuses – Any other bonus contained in a player's contract will be calculated in the Salary Cap if the NRL Salary Cap Auditor expects him to achieve the bonus based on his prior year's performance.

Example: A player played State of Origin in 2017. His 2018 Contract includes a $20,000 State of Origin bonus. This bonus will be included in the player's 2018 Salary Cap Value.

Note: Where a bonus is achieved by a player but was not assessed in the player's Salary Cap Value, the bonus is carried forward and calculated in the player's Salary Cap Value for the following year.

What if he only wants a one year contract?
How much is he worth then?
