Agreed...which is exactly what I think we will be doing by not signing Hayne. We don’t get a better roster by treating next year as a ‘right off’.

Did they show some spine by signing an over-rated plodder like Juniour Paulo to a four year deal? This club doesn't have any spine. Don't kid yourself. I used to be proud of this club. Not anymore.
I don't understand the "he was our best player in 2018" nonsense - surely Daniel Alvaro deserves that mention?
Yes. Like Hayne.Hopefully we find one from this generation.
Why did you frame the question that way? The money saved can be used on multiple players, not just one person. For those that won’t be too disappointed if we in fact have f**ked up the signing of Hayne, do you think he improves the roster?
If so, do you honestly think we will be able to sign someone that adds as much as Hayne will to the roster by the start of the season?
I think that this is the worst time to be taking a stand as we don’t really have any other option. Hayne only wants a 1 year contract so it’s not as though it will nite is in the arse at a later date. We also have a ton of cap space coming off contract at the end of the year so next year’s negotiations would be the time to take a stand as there will be plenty more time to find plan b’s and c’s.Well said mate. The bottom line is that they are taking a stand. Yes, it might be too late for some but it is better late than never as far as I am concerned.
You need a certain amount of class in the team to be competitive. Spreading that cap space across multiple players might improve depth in the event of injuries, but won’t improve the quality on the park. Why did you frame the question that way? Nice hyperbole.Yes. Like Hayne.
If the club was taking a stand they wouldn't have been trying to offload players to sign Hayne. The evidence of poor cap management is far more believable.Well said mate. We would have been much better served this year with greater depth. If we had depth our performances on the park would have undoubtedly improved. You need a certain amount of class in the team to be competitive. I disagree. He showed that this year. And Shaun Micallef is an overrated merkin.Nice hyperbole.
But the reality is that he is one of those rare ‘once in a generation’ players who isn’t as good as several players from his (now superseded) generation.
Don’t take my word on this. Ask Shaun Micallef.
I disagree. We needed more class this year, which is why we have recruited Paulo and Fergo. The only depth we’ve brought into the squad is Lane (and Davey, but he’s more of a project). Additionally the club wanted to retain another class player in Hayne as it’s first option. Has BA got that wrong too?We would have been much better served this year with greater depth. Hayne showed this year that he is a ‘once in a generation’ player? Pull your dick.I disagree. He showed that this year.
True. He is the Jarryd Hayne of talk show hosts. And Shaun Micallef is an overrated merkin.
Quite possibly. If the club was taking a stand they wouldn't have been trying to offload players to sign Hayne. The evidence of poor cap management is far more believable.
No problems with keeping Hayne at all. It just needs to be at the right price.I disagree. We needed more class this year, which is why we have recruited Paulo and Fergo. Is $600-$700k that much though for a quality fullback? It’s only about $100-$200k more than what we were hoping to get him for. It’s not massive overs as far as I’m concerned.Quite possibly.
Whatever the reason I am happy that Hayne won’t be given big coin. He isn’t worth it at this stage of his career.
If his stats when he was fit this year weren't quite in that realm then they weren't far off.Hayne showed this year that he is a ‘once in a generation’ player? Pull your dick.
True. He is the Jarryd Hayne of talk show hosts.
Besides, I meant the skinny gay guy with the weird accent.
I wouldn't even call what he was asking big coin, and that's the club's figure (I assume). Could well have taken even less.Quite possibly.

That’s not the point that Ivor made and isn’t the point that I was responding to.Agreed...which is exactly what I think we will be doing by not signing Hayne.
