No i think it means the new coach's 3yr plan gets escalated cos they have more scope to build what they want quicker
And the eels will have the most cap space for 2020 for a massive recruitment drive if they don’t retain players who underperform in 19.
Ps we haven’t played or lost a game yet in 19, things can change very easily just like they did from 17 to this year

Yep!!

We potentially have the following players in our top 17 for round 1 in 2019, who we didn’t have in our 2018 round 1 side (or for the first several rounds):

Gutho
Ferguson
Paulo
Lane
Mahoney
Gennings
Niukore
Peni
Pritchard
Kaufusi
Salmon

So potentially we could start the year a lot better and with different structures/playing style then 2018.

See ya, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

I wouldn't bother coming back to the forum either.

Talk about a joke, throwing away over fifty years over one player. You should be ashamed of yourself.
spot on

No. My point is that right now would be the ideal time to sign a guy like Hayne. Brand new stadium opening; a dramatic turn- over of playing personel imminent; a probable turn-over of coaching staff imiminent. In short, the final year of a very traumatic and unsuccessful era and the eve of another. Hence my calling next year a right off. Main point is, what a brilliant time to sign such an enigmatic and crowd drawing player in the twilight of his career to a one year deal. Instead they use it to suddenly make a stand on principle. This club has no brains, no foresight, no imagination.
Because he is enigmatic

One of our issues this year was go forward at the start of sets and attacking punch through the middle. We have rectified both of those issues with Paulo and Fergo. The other main issue was our halves playing like busted arses. You would have to hope for some improvement but all of this will count for little if we don’t have a quality fullback to provide attacking threats on both sides of the field. As it stands we don’t have that.

We had a shit load of issues in 18. It would be easier to identify what wasn’t an issue.

We don't have a decent to great start in the first 8-10 rounds, then the mother of all cleanouts will begin id imagine

For starters BA wont be resigned - we will be looking for a new coach
The players off contract next year, id say a lot wont be offered an extension.

We potentially could have 3.5 million, maybe more, to hit the market with.

My preference, and hopefully of every eel supporter, is that we rip in 2019 and the players there do us proud and we go a long way

I guess its possible, but this is what has happened in recent years when we have or haven't had Hayne.

2018 - 6 wins, 18 losses (Hayne)
2017 - 16 wins, 10 losses (No Hayne)
2016 - 13 wins, 11 losses (No Hayne)
2015 - 9 wins, 13 losses (No Hayne)

2014 - 12 wins, 12 losses (Hayne)
2013 - 5 wins, 19 losses (Hayne)
2012 - 6 wins, 18 losses (Hayne)
2011 - 6 wins, 17 losses, 1 draw (Hayne)

With Hayne

35 wins, 84 losses, 1 draw
Win percentage = 29%

Without Hayne

38 wins, 34 losses
Win percentage = 53%

Useful raw data but I wouldn't draw any conclusions with out knowing for each win or loss:

Did we have a full roster to pick from, or depleted roster ?
Which players were out, spine or fringe players?
How many injuries were they carrying ?
Were we playing a top 4 team or a bottom feeder like us ?
Were we playing at home or away ?
Was Hayne fit or carrying an injury (like most of last year) ?

Stats (or raw data like this) can be misleading imo.

Not a fan of unanalysed data and dont really take much notice of it, but thanks for putting it all together.

I'm not that excited about a massive cleanout, and not just because it means a poor 2019. We're a club that struggles to attract quality players, and when we do get them we usually pay top dollar. And on average, for the same quality of player, it's cheaper to re-sign than it is to replace.
This whole administration business has really screwed us because we aren't playing by the same rules as everyone else. Even if Max is successful in getting his reforms through I'm not sure anything will change soon, given he put the board in place.

I love how people say he ruins clubs.

Parra were shyte before, during and after. Slightly better with Semi.
49's were shyte before, during and after.
Titans were shyte before, during and after.

He is not a messiah, and not the problem just a good player but one of seventeen or fifty three.

To win football matched it starts in the forwards. If they stand up the halves get more time to execute attacking plays and the backs get more space.
Bevans 22 and turns 23 by time season kicks off. There are parts of his game that are very good and some that aren't. Injuries over the last few years have stopped him from getting into any sort of rhythm. Put any fullback in our 2018 side and they wouldn't of shown much. Guys like Bevan need forwards who offload and he needs to be sniffn around. I'd give Bevan first crack at fullback simply cause we have Lane and Jnr who love to offload. And the upside if Bevan shines is a long term solution. Being a smaller guy he was always going to struggle with the physical side of NRL and was always going to take a few years to adjust.
I can imagine this offseason he will fill out just a little more. I'd compare him to Dufty who is same age. Difference was they let his body grow in lower grades.

Bevan had 4 games this season at fullback. One of those was the 54 -0 thrashing against Manly. For mine he gets first crack. And he gets untill round 8 to show if is the solution.
If not We put Norman and blood Brown or Salmon

So we havent won more than 6 games in any season in the last 8 years unless Semi played a large portion of that season.
