I know mate, and it is a terrible scenario. You guys will be lucky if you don't finish bottom 4 next year, which is the brutal honesty, but you have to look to the long term future, because it IS there. One of the proudest supporter bases in the code won't just up and leave because Hayne did. What else can you do?

Kearney was a f**k up, Stuart was a f**k up. You guys just have to deal with that now.
Yep, the club will live on. I can only see struggle street for us in the next few seasons, it will be tough but i think we have the right bloke in charge but this has made it so much tough for him.

Dave Smith can give us a concession and get Izzy and undo the f**k up that was Shoebox. Should be the minimum action to ensure the heartland continues to grow

Gutted. :(

The whole situation is farcical, and typical of Hayne's egotistical ways IMO.

Had he made the announcement the same time Sam Burgess did, it wouldn't have been an issue.

Good luck to him, and thanks for the memories - but he's f**ked our 2015 campaign after some solid work to start arresting the slide down the ladder.

Didn't Parra send Hayne over to Seattle to learn some things from gridiron that he could bring back to his game at Parra?

That worked out a treat

If we don't get a replacement FB signed, hopefully Hoppa will be 100% fit and gain a bit of pace over the off season. He could be a gun there

It's no coincidence that mid way through the year, Hayne and his manager told the club that contract talks were off till after the season.

The alarm bells should of started ringing then.

The timing is starting to shit me especially seeing that he made the announcement whilst the coach he chose was out of the country.

The only person who knows whether it was the right thing to do whether it was today or not is Jarryd.

As he stated in his conference, it's already round 6 over there, he needs to get there quick to settle down and get into it.

BA isn't probably back or another week or so hence the announcement.

It wouldnt matter. From my understanding all teams are full for this season. He is trying to make it for September 2015. So he could just be having a gap year next year if he doesn't make it.

That's what I'm saying. The club shouldn't have.

If he wants to break contract that badly at this late stage and we don't allow him to, then we can sue him for leaving.

Greedy arrogant sod has left his "beloved" team and club well and truly in the lurch... but it's ok, because he gave us "great memories". And he's an "Eel for life".

You can't keep a player who doesn't want to be there. The only thing you'll succeed in doing is pissing him off. Its good to keep relations positive with star players because it makes it increases the likelihood of them wanting to play for the club on their return. As for him being greedy, I wouldn't say so. I just think some players are too good for rugby league and want to achieve acclaim in a bigger sport and unfortunately, Jarryd Hayne is one of those.

f**ks sakes merkins! We've missed the finals five straight years and won two spoons since Hayne became a star. Is it not possible that we're better off without him?

Don't compare this with marquee players at other clubs - Jarryd Hayne is like no other player, both for ability and attitude. He thinks he can make it in the NFL for f**ks sake! How many other marquee players would leave their clubs mid-contract to trial for an NFL team?

He can't play in the NFL this season, even if he miraculously demonstrated that he was ready (the rosters are closed). His best shot is to get on a training squad, and maybe get a spot in one of their 'World Football League' / 'European League' teams for experience.

I have always been a keen follower of the NFL and those suggesting Hayne won't make it are going to be very disappointed. He is a natural for Special Teams role on kick returns and will earn millions in NFL.

Rosters are closed? Say What?
Everyday there are guys get signed to or cut from practice squads
and everyday there are guys getting cut from the 53 man rosters and guys from practice squads getting promoted
What would prevent him from doing the same?

We make the 8 easily if Peats didn't get injured

Key injuries crucified us last year. We were In the top for after 10-11 rounds till crucial injuries hit. Penrith lost games when their main rake was out, Storm are clueless without theirs. Manly make the GF if Ballin was there.

Of course we had Keating the previous years, lol
