Sorry, Barry. I think i may have changed my subject a bit..

No need for apologies mate....I was just explaining myself a bit more clearly.
I don't believe in any god or any of that stuff so to me the book is fiction and i really struggle to fathom how anyone could fall for any of that, whatever keeps them from killing people though......oh wait, plenty of death in the name of religion.....whatever keeps them happy.....

.

Neither do I. But I understand why the fear of no longer existing inspires all sorts of rationalisations of the world, and am happy to respect most genuinely held beliefs (as long as they don't extend to defending the harming of non-believers).

Isn't it funny how most religions teach love and peace, but if you believe in a different imaginary thing, you have to die.. cause you're evil, or something..

The amount of inconsistencies and downright contradictions in religious teachings are staggering, and yet, instantly dismissed by the followers of those religions.

I guess religion serves some sort of purpose, helping people cope with their fear of death and the unknown (as in what happens after), giving them solace believing that their lives mean something and that there is some sort of reward at the end, stops them from blowing their brains out, I guess.

Good for them I suppose, I just wish they wouldn't fight over which one was right, and realise the fact that they can all be right, for them, and that rather than thinking of "Heaven" or what the afterlife or whatever they each call it, is more of a separate plane of existence, rather than a tangible place, that is constructed by each individual observer, based on their experience and beliefs and such, instead of people sitting on clouds wearing togas playing harps.

Don't get me wrong, i am happy for people to believe whatever they like as long as they aren't preachy to me. What someone else believes in really doesn't make any difference in my life.

I can't control what happens to me when i die, it is very odd to think that i will not exist one day but it's not in my control so i don't worry about it at all and i certainly don't feel the need to beg something that there is no proof exists to look after me when i'm dead, cause i don't really care.

That reminds me of the Family Guy Star Wars Parodies, "A long time ago, but somehow in the future.."

Love those. Those who haven't checked them out, you really should, they are brilliant.

Obi-wan Kenobi cracks me up every time...

Iraq /Kuwait, Russia/Ukraine etc beg to differ.

Iraq/Kuwait have different religious groups although they are both Muslim.

Russia is not officially at war with Ukraine. It is Ukrainian people that share an ethnic tie to Russia.

I disagree that religious causes all wars, it is a leading factor in many.

I used Iraq Kuwait as an example of a non religious based war. It was over greed (oil) mainly.

Same goes with Ukraine. This time it's about former Russian separatists. Not officially at war however they are still shooting at each other. Open to interpretation really.

Korea, Vietnam, American Civil war etc wars had zip to do with religion.
