What is there to flip around?

Did Seeward start contract talks or not?

Was he just trying to say that after the article by the SMH early July about the NFL talk?

Eels chief executive Scott Seward confirmed yesterday that contract negotiations with the Parramatta star?s representatives were about to get under way.

?It has been on our radar for a while now,? Seward said.

?We have flagged it with Jarryd?s management about extending and, as far as we?re concerned".

So he actually never spoke to Beavis? he only flagged the idea?

There is no way on this earth he would of just dropped this bombshell.

The discussions with the club would of happened in recent weeks at least.

Anyway, best of luck to the champ. I hope he goes well and wish him nothing but success in life and I hope he chases that dream to play NFL.

Judging by our recent signings, the 'gun' fullback signing is way off and won't be happening. The CEO on radio has already stated that Hoppa will play 1 and we will be chasing a centre and not fullback.

I'm putting the individual first. He is a friend of mine and I respect his decision no matter how it was done.

Whether it was handled properly or not is irrelevant now.

There is no use debating how it went down.
The club should of been in his ear and the managers at the end of last season working towards an extension.

Why wait till July this year to start talks.

Well that's not what 95% of the fans would think. So you can count yourself in the smallest of minorities.

BTW, if he was my friend I'd tell him that he's a selfish merkin. I wonder however if he actually has the smarts to "get" what he has done or to even give a crap.

Selfish merkin?

You kidding yourself?

The bloke has the dream of a lifetime and these opportunities don't come every day of the week.

He has stuck solid with the club for many years and could of gone anywhere since making his debut in 2006 so no one can question his loyalty.

I know for a matter of fact he could of gone to the Bulldogs for a lot more money previously and didn't.

What would be the reaction if Hayne snapped his ACL in the 4 nations and was ruled out for season 2015?

Um there is no opportunity here. No contract offer, so WTF are you talking about. If he wants to go try another sport then he does the right thing and waits until the end of his contract or seeks a release with ample lead time for the club to find a plan B.

Mate if you don't get the timing was selfish and that walking out mid contract on a club who are just about to start 2015 training is wrong - then I can't help you. Think about it a bit more I think.

We gave him permission to go.

He's gone.

Time to move on and do the best we can with what we got.

So why didn't we block his move?

Why didn't we take legal action for breaking his contract?

Cos deep down we're nice people.

Sadly we will be forced into another "rebuilding year" because of his selfish 11th hour request.

stop wanking on with your crap that they knew and he didn't just spring it on them as has been widely reported

back in July he gave no indication he wanted to leave and in fact wanted to stay http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/pa...-an-eel-for-life/story-fndv34of-1226975600423

Parramatta want to make superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne and Eel for life

Dean Ritchie

NSW superstar Jarryd Hayne wants to be an Eel for life.

Hayne, 26, comes off contract after next year, and Parramatta management are desperately keen to kick-start negotiations early.

?If I wanted to go, I?d be long gone,? Hayne stressed.

Hayne spoke of a bright new era at Pirtek Stadium with a robust roster, flamboyant style and a rising coach in Brad Arthur.

?What he is building and the way he is coaching, I think he has a huge amount of talent as a coach,? Hayne said.

?He can read the game and reads the plays.

?For us, we want to make the finals. You look at the game on the weekend (versus Newcastle), we didn?t have a finals attitude and we should have wrapped that game up.

?If we had a better mentality and more experience we would have won. We went close, don?t get me wrong.

?We are definitely still in the hunt. We just need to find a bit of rhythm, that?s all we are lacking. We are a good team but not a great team at the moment.?

Parramatta has a big, fast and young football side.

With Arthur moulding the future, Parramatta is poised to yet again become a rugby league force.

?In the next couple of years when we can fix up our salary cap and start to buy marquee players, that will help as well,? Hayne said.

Asked was Parramatta about to sign Bulldogs centre Krisnan Inu, Hayne said: ?I think there was (some talk about that).

?The last time I spoke to him, he was um-ing and ar-ing.?

Hayne is now back in camp with NSW and ready to star again in Origin III at Suncorp Stadum next Wednesday night.

The brilliant fullback was in tears after securing the historic series win in Sydney. They were television images that will forever be etched into Origin folklore.

?It was emotional and it was a long time coming,? Hayne said.

?It kind of caught up with me, especially seeing some of the older boys, Robbie, ?Lukey? (Lewis) and ?Gal? (Paul Gallen).

?To be apart of it was huge and special.?

Hayne denied this game should be referred to as a ?dead rubber?.

?Everyone who has pulled on the jersey wants to win,? Hayne said.

Asked would Queensland come out fighting given their series failure, Hayne said: ?You?d think so. I am sure they are going to want to win on their home ground.

?This game will be just as important as the first two. Origin is Origin, it wouldn?t matter whether we have been beaten 25 games in a row or won 25 games in a row.

?You want to win.?

Hayne has been simply stunning in this year?s series, particularly game one in Brisbane.

?I try and play my best every week and try and do my thing,? he said.
