On the scale of retirements from their chosen sport (in Australia), this has to be up there with Ian Thorpe. That guy could have owned records that no-one would have ever chased down.
Hayne is the same, he could have been the undisputed greatest Eel ever, possibly player ever......
Life goes on though and I'll still support the Eels as much as I always have, he is not the Eels for me, great player, important player but others will come who excite us, maybe not as much or as talented but this does not end the Eels.
Pou is right though, this does open up a lot of salary cap and if a couple of young backs step up and we improve our forwards with true leaders, it may actually favour us.
