Of course we will, just stating that we were looking to be building something and without warning and not given the opportunity to use the cap properly, Jarryd did something selfish and denied the club a chance to cover the loss

As Avenger said, it's all about Jarryd

Maybe had planned on doing it at the end of season 2015, Maybe the fact he went over to the USA recently and talked to the NFL guys sparked him into wanting to do it even more and that desire got stronger.

Would we have been happy if he played next season for us and not wanted to or played 1 game and left..

Its better now than later on in the pre season..

HOLIDAY OVER

SPARE a thought for Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur, who was overseas on a family holiday in Bali when Jarryd Hayne decided to drop his NFL bombshell.

Hayne telephoned Arthur to break the news, forcing the Eels coach to immediately put his recruitment hat on.

The Eels have already been linked to a string of fullbacks but the answer could be right in front of them. William Hopoate is the game’s next superstar and he has spent time in the No. 1 jumper

No it is not all about Jarryd. The club, fans and sport are in his debt already.

What he is attempting is rare. It really is inspiring. It is genuine. Enjoy the ride.

Would still be selfish and self centred if he did it without warning and giving the club notice and a chanc to cover the loss. He has been paid millions and still didn't think of anyone else

I think of my daughter and her son who invested their support in him and the club and are devastated and feel a bit empty, can't spin anything positive for Jarryd in this

take a hike

the dog left us in the lurch

Ha, he supports someone chasing their dreams. Doing something anyone would do in his position.

Maybe you need to take a hike along with a few others on here and go have a few days to relax, drown your sorrows and come back.

yup

Jodeci and Joely were both in the know yet never told anyone until after Hayne announced it

they just can't handle the fact that Hayne left us in lurch and instead want to blame the club

When have I blamed the club or Hayne?

I've said all the way through this I support Hayne, it is taking a lot of guts to do what he is doing, and anyone who does any kind of sports will be thinking the same thing.
I don't tell people on here things I am told for a reason, and I've explained myself in the past. And honestly I couldn't give a s**t what you and hineyrulz think.

And you really think I'm going to come on here and be like by the way guys big chance we will lose Hayne at the end of the year. I have been devastated by the news and when I was first told how serious Hayne was about the move.
One thing I am glad about is it's not with another NRL club, and it's not to rugby.

On reflection this was a selfish action by someone who only considered one person, himself

Burgess for instance gave the club time to recruit and use his salary cap space, JH could have left at th end of his contract or advised at the beginning of the season that he would go once it finished. That is what a real team player wold have done

Pretty much this. I've got absolutely no problem with JH wanting and deciding to leave. I wish him every bit of luck in the NFL. But, waiting until October 15 to confirm the decision (even assuming the club knew he was considering doing this for some time......you can't replace him until he says 'yep I'm going') is a dog act. His mates will make excuses for anything he does. I've never been a knocker of Jarryd's, but he now has the credibility of a vegetarian shark in my eyes.

So selfish of Hayne for not pleasing his fans by doing exactly what they say.

Disgusting.

Ron

You can't deny the fact that he made a commitment to the club up until his coach went on holidays. Now our best player is gone and we have 20% of our cap not allocated. Why can't you see this is an issue now for the club? Do we spend it and promise other players a career here only to shed them and go back on our word if he decides to return this time next year?

The NRL may supplement some of his salary for a short period if he returns but his likely return will eventually be a salary cap nightmare in relation to recruitment. It's simply not fair to the players that have stayed loyal. What he should have done is announce it at the beginning of the season like Burgess not 2 weeks before preseason starts.

Pretty much my thoughts as well Bazza, if he had of done the same thing as S Burgess i would have been devastated to lose him but he would have given the club the chance to soften the blow of him leaving us. He is irreplaceable but we would of had a whole season and off season to get next seasons squad together. This makes us selfish apparently

I think it's kind of funny that the things I've been saying about Hayne over the years - selfish and arrogant, basically thinking only of himself at all times - and which I copped immeasurable amounts of shit over, are now the things that a vast bunch of people here (who were giving me shit over my position) are now saying themselves.

You can all go f**k yourselves, as far as I'm concerned.

Look at you, spurned lovers crying in a corner because the guy whose dick you wanted in your mouth ran away with someone else.

Do you know why I don't give a shit about Hayne leaving? Because I knew he was like this all along.

Like many others on here, I dont begrudge Hayne for taking the opportunity to follow his dreams and try and make it in the NFL and I wish him every success. But what some people seem to be missing is the fact that in doing this at the time he has and in the manner he has, he has failed to take into account the impact to the club his timing creates.

Is this his right - of course it is.
Is this right - not in my opinion.

Was there a better option - probably not one that would have left no impact as he is the most skillful player in the game and those type of players are not replaceable so there was always going to be an impact to our playing roster. I just think timing could have been better somehow.

Having said that, chasing a dream such as he is takes courage - and good luck to him.
