Professional sportsmen acting professionally and not emotionally. Who'd have thought it?

Since when is not fulfilling a contract obligation considered being professional? It certainly isn't in the real world. You also think 'following your heart' isn't acting emotionally?

Umm he was talking about the post he quoted Tony. Inu and Mateo, not Hayne.

I disagree. If he comes back to the NRL, it will be to the Eels.
I have no doubt.

Suity

I like your optimism but if he comes back at a time we have plugged his hole financially and other clubs are cashed up even excluding a concession, im afraid ive got some bad news. Hayne left the eels dream of winning a premiership to pursue his own dream, if he comes back it is more likely to be for his own interests rather than a blue and gold one... and I dont fault him for that, thats reality and its his life. He owes us nothing. Its time to accept life without hayne and accept that loyalty means nothing when it comes to money and success of which he has given up on at the eels.

And we owe him nothing. Hayne would be better off in a club with a stronger leadership group, where he isn't forced to set an example.

Without him I believe we can finally win a premiership, and if he comes back (wherever he ends up) he might finally be able to win one too. Have none of you merkins ever been through an amicable divorce? This is win-win.

He'd hate any club where he wasn't the centre of attention and worshipped like a god (by teammates as well as the general public).

It's a win for us, that's for sure.

I couldn't give a f**k whether Hayne wins or loses (although my opinion is he'll be a loser in the US).

Exactly, Mateo and Inu had no problem playing against us, despite the emotional nature of their departure.

That's why I'm saying Hayne won't have any problem lining up against the Eels in the future (2016) if it comes to that - instead of French/Japanese rugby union.

I don't think he'l be worshipped like a god over in the nfl.

But that's what he wants. Hayne is an ego maniac. Challenge my arse.

Besides according to this article his best position according to this expert is one where he may never touch the ball. Will his ego handle that ?

Like I keep saying I truly hope he makes it because if he does return to the NRL he will destabilise us again. It will not be as easy as this lifetime agreement bullshit.

I'm treating this like he snapped his ACL in the warm up before round one without him committing for 2016.

When the news broke I was seriously shattered. I ranted and raved and felt disappointed. During one of these rants my teenage daughter, who doesnt follow league or give a shite about Jarryd Hayne, managed to take a microsecond to look up from that bloody phone of hers and say calmly "dont stress you might not need him as much as you think you do". Now my first reaction was to slap her across the face and tell her to wake up to herself but instead I just wandered away muttering to myself. Later when I had calmed down I thought about what she said and maybe she has a point. Maybe as an outsider she can see something I cant. So as delusional as it is I have decided to be optimistic. Maybe now we can become more balanced as a team. It wont be easy without him but its not impossible. So to Jarryd Hayne - goodbye, goodluck and thanks for the memories. To the rest of the Eels - Cmon boys it time to roll up your sleeves, work hard for each other and finally play like a TEAM. Life goes on.
p.s. That slap in the face is still an option if we get the wooden spoon. Oh and how ironic would it be if we went really well without him.

So many lols in that article...
It's this column's understanding that Hayne will have ongoing support from one of his main sponsors, Telstra. And there are other ways that he will continue to make money. He will be taking a camera crew with him on his journey ? the aim is to make a documentary ? and that will be worth seeing. The first vision was shot in his manager's office on Friday.
So it's basically his own reality tv show? Being Lara Bingle 2...
Don't think for a moment that Hayne won't throw everything at his challenge. He is single-minded in his desire to make it to the top."I won't be doing any media when I get over there," he said.
Except with your own f**king camera crew .
Hayne nearly pulled the pin before kick-off in game one this year ? that's how conflicted he was."Was I having second thoughts?" he said. "Yeah. Was my judgment clouded? The truth is that before round one I was lying in bed thinking, should I call Brad [Arthur] now and tell him where my heart is at? I did not have enough courage to do that. Not enough confidence. I was thinking of the past and that's really what was keeping me in the game, not the future."
And it seems still not enough confidence and man up and tell him face to face before walking out.
The statement was clear from the club in its media release as part of the Hayne announcement: "Hayne has signed a 'lifetime agreement' with the Eels, so if he chooses to return to the NRL, he will come back to Parramatta without question," it read. There is no doubt his heart is with the club, but I asked his agent, Wayne Beavis, about the contract, and he was surprised to learn about the deal but offered no comment. If there is a contract, what are they paying him and is it a salary cap issue? More likely, there is a gentleman's agreement ? but for the Eels to announce a lifetime deal was odd.
Yes, interestingly odd...

Hayne spent two years training for the NFL in secret. He watched more NFL than NRL. And to top it all off, he's now doing interviews criticising rugby league - he recently stated that he'd learn more in a week's raining in the NFL than he would training for two months in the NRL.

He has no grace or class. As if it wasn't enough to up and leave the way he did, he then twists the knife he stabbed us with by criticising and belittling the sport that made him.

f**k that merkin.

Yep, he's burning his bridges does he realise he might not make it????

By the sounds of it he has no intentions to return to RL, he'll probably piss off you overseas Yawnion instead.

Beavis clearly doesn't understand contract law then. If such a deal exists, Parra's agreement to release JH from the final year of his old contract constitutes consideration (i.e. answers the 'what are they paying him' question). Of course, I don't really trust anything JH says at this point, why would you?

You guys should just lay off Jarryd.
He only made up his mind on Monday and he is "just a kid with a dream".
Leave him alone you merkins, remember he has friends on this site too.

The "life time contract" talk is all lip service to try and paint a picture that Hayne as doing the right thing. It's all crap. If Hayne does come back, and I don't think he will, it will be to the highest bidder with the best chance at a premiership

Now to the more pressing issue. What is the club going to do with that gigantic Hayne photo in the club?

Considering hayne is still using our gym, we fully participated in his media conference, posted his letter on our website as well as other stuff about it along with appearing fully supportive and hayne even stating there is a "life long contract" I reckon there is definitely some sort of arrangement. As really the eels should be pretty pissed off about this whole circus !!

Given how critical of league he's been lately, I doubt he will be back.

The way he's been talking lately, he only played league because he had to to buy his mum a house. That's all.
