So why we're were still looking to offload players like Mossop and Allgood the week before the announcement????

Who said we are? All I remember seeing is that we wouldn't stand in their way if they got a better offer. Different to actually shopping them around or telling them they aren't required.

Besides, it hardly affects the fullback position does it? Mossop might end up starting, Allgood is a fringe forward and as mentioned we have Alvaro, and Ualesi (is he still around after his injury issues?) and Aioloai who can fill those spots at a fraction of the cost. So why wouldn't we take the opportunity if it was presented?

My point was if we were looking at offloading guys we may have had cap pressure to squeeze in watmough, but if the club knew Hayne was going like has been stated by a few on here why the need to offload guys as late as the week before Haynes announcement???

Good luck to him. No issues here. He has a dream, let him try to fulfil it! Also, this may not even be permanent. He may never make it who knows.

However, I do think how much the anger would be if he had gone to Manly or Union.

i wonder if we would have let Loko go if Hayne had done the right thing and made his decision earlier.

could have had him at center and Hoppa at fullback

we may have also decided to keep Sio if we knew earlier

Twas me that mentioned belittling. I say that bc of his comments about playing nfl is his dream. I'd say his team mates would of thought his dream was to captain the eels to premiership glory. Or am I missing something here???

From comments from players over the years of when a team mate f**ks their club over or getting cheated out of premierships, I don't think footy players are smart enough to feel wronged.

If Melbourne cheated me out of a premiership ring and the media interviewed me, there would be no diplomacy like we got from our players.

It would be like some pub band being upset if their guitarist was given an opportunity to replace Kirk Hammett, how the f**k could you begrudge them?

I dont think either of Loko and Sio were let go for salary cap reasons if you follow what has been said here.

i'm not talking about salary cap

i'm just saying we may have kept one or both if we knew our fullback was going to do the Harold

similar to when we let Willie Tonga go years ago when we didn't know Lyon was going to ditch us

Maybe not but we did let go two first grade backs. Decision on retention may of been different had hayne decided to quit earlier.

I think Loko would've been gone regardless. Injury prone and have options in centre and second row that have probably over taken him

We would have been offloading guys because they were getting paid too much for where they fit into our roster.

So Allgood might have been getting paid as the number four prop yet only be number six on our list. In that case it's worth getting rid of him regardless of what else is happening with the roster.

Loko was told to go, discipline reasons

Yeah that seems to be an ignored fact. I read in the paper that re-hab was hindered because of poor attitude.

It still doesn't mean he wouldn't of been kept had we known hayne was going to quit earlier on in season.

We've got plenty of cheaper wing options, and with more potential than Sio.

Getting rid of Loko and Sio were good decisions regardless of Hayne.

Well the coach didn't think that his attitude fitted in with the team going forward. He wanted committed players, like Jarryd. Oh wait ..... :sarcasm:
