Ahh the bad old days. Super League really shot themselves in the foot by including NZ in a "tri-series" concept. I remember going to the SFS to watch the NSW v QLD match (they were giving free tickets away) and there was a crowd of only 20 000 with absolutely no atmosphere. I remember sitting there chatting to my friends while the football was being played in the background (like what you would do if you're watching reserve grade at a ground).
In saying that the final was a cracker with the scores levelled (14 all if I remember correctly) after two lots of extra time. It took a Noel Goldthorpe field goal to win NSW the series.
They should have just done a NSW v QLD 3 match series and it would hold more credibility now 17 years later.
