When the Titans were NRL owned, I remember talk from some here that Norths (maybe even in conjunction with Burleigh) would be a good option.. and at the time, I thought that too - but on reflection, I don't think it was the right brand for a GC based NRL club.
I’ll be honest, I had a pretty detailed breakdown of what happened around that time re: Norths and GC but decided to edit and remove it from the post. Didn’t think it was worth being part of the conversation.

Keen to hear it- I know the Titans perspective well from the time but only heard what Billy Moore was mouthing at the from the Norths perspective.

Came across this chat. Good posts gents.

Burleigh Bears certainly have a rich history as a footy club, however commercially they aren’t and never been on that sort of level to have been able to be promoted to the NRL as a business entity like Dolphins were.

Leagues Club revenue is underwhelming (good spot though - just saying it how it is).

Furthermore, I don’t think the Bears brand would have been able to be taken on (as Norths were bidding at the same time in the 2nd attempted incarnation of CC - 2005. It would have been a similar situation to GC NRL Bid using Dolphins branding and then ceasing to use Dolphins once Redcliffe tapped them on the shoulder).

Titans have had their ups and downs but under new management look to have made a good recovery and the current owners are doing a decently sound job. Their brand stocks are rising and good things are on the horizon for the club I reckon. Hopefully Burleigh cease their partnership with Broncos soon and join Titans. No ill will towards Broncos, it just makes more sense for Burleigh to be under Titans for geographical reasons. I’m not sure if both GC/Tweed clubs have ever been Titans feeders at the same time. I think they have but can’t 100% recall.
Most of the clubs history has been associated with both Burleigh and Tweed. We still have connections to the Burleigh juniors but it would be good to have them reunite.

Just stumbled on this repository of rugby league jerseys trying to find a picture of the 1997 Crushers World Sevens jersey.

For fans of jerseys of their club or of the game, even expansion bids, this is a stunning website. A real work of love, and if anyone on here is associated with it, it’s fantastic.

That’s a great site. Discovered it myself last year sometime. Good dedication from whoever runs it.

The admin of Brisbane Rugby League Memories on FB has the Crushers world 7’s jersey. Nice bloke too. Wonder if he posts here?

Been watching heaps of mid-late nineties games.

Trying to work out the exact year they switched over from polyester cotton to the current synthetic screen printed jerseys they wear now.

Obviously all the Super League shirts in 1997 were sublimated and synthetic. Onfield and retail.

The Warriors original kit from 1995 is probably the first synthetic kit though, with the curves.

Watching 1997-1998 games though, some one the ARL clubs look to still be wearing cotton.

I don't think the Dragons changed to polyester until adidas did them in 2006. We may have been one of the final holdouts

I think Parramatta changed in 2001, Newcastle mightve also done it the same year.

Newcastle went synthetic in 2000.

Other clubs started different years, with the Dragons, I'm fairly certain, the last to go that way.
A lazy search suggests that origin held onto cotton a bit longer - blues until 2007, and maroons possibly until 2009.

From some deep diving, synthetic change dates

1997 - Broncos, Bulldogs, Raiders, Sharks, Cowboys, Panthers (Nike/Super League)

1999 - Manly (Classic to FILA)
* Penrith reverted to cotton (Nike to Classic)

2000 - Newcastle (Classic to FILA)

2001 - Parra (stayed with Classic), Roosters (Classic to Kappa)

2002 - Souths (were with Classic before removal in 1999, returned with ISC)

2004 - Penrith (Classic to ISC)

2006 - St Geo Illa was in 2006 switching from Classic to adidas

Warriors (1995), Storm (1998), Wests Tigers (2000) and obviously the Titans (2007) and Dolphins (2023) have always been polyester. Northern Eagles (2000) were synthetic all three of their seasons.

As @GAZF said above, NSW (2007) and QLD (2009) held out a fair bit longer before changing. From what I can deduce, Australia's jersey didn't go synthetic til 2010.

Manly went to Nike in 1999, not FILA.
