Still not sure why we invest in the 7.

He is leaving. Sit on the park bench outside Henson Park.

Good halfback in Cup allows the rest of the squad to develop alongside him.. would be crazy to waste an asset by sitting him out. Dukes and Miller being thrown some rando to run the team isn't helping them, Metcalf gives em room to grow. Also.. keeps him prepped in case two of Moylan/Hynes/Trindall/Tracey become unavailable.. never understood the whole give a guy a flick once he's signed elsewhere logic, you use what you've got on hand and try to get all grades performing by any means necessary

Yeah that doesn't wash with me either but the rest of your theory, which is sound, doesn't wash this time as LM is an individualist who likes to shine and will be contributing little to the growth of others. He couldn't organise the proverbial root in a brothel as a half.

Let’s hope that making him 18th man the other week was a helping hand in contract negotiations

Not giving Matt Moylan a 2 year contract will help negotiations the most.

Sure Moylan is having a decent season but what would Penrith do in the same situation?

If they have evaluated a player to be a long term better bet than the ageing incumbent they’ll back their junior development system.

If we don’t do that then we either don’t have a decent junior development system producing better players than ageing incumbents or we aren’t bold enough to back a young player early. From what I’ve seen of Kade Dykes he constantly dominates highligh reels. He looks great at playing both fullback and 5/8. That means he can play 2 of the spine positions which potentially makes him a very valuable player. To do all the hard work of bringing him through the junior grades and losing him now to a team like the West Tigers would be total stupidity from us.

Sign Dykes first lock him up.
With Moylan just stick with the one year deal, this is first year he has stayed healthy in what 4 or 5 years

He’s been dominant in every grade he plays too. Flegg he was braining them before going to the Jets and staying there.

As mentioned he’s not short either and a few off seasons will get his weight up.

losing him will be really disappointing because Moylan wants two seasons.

The million dollar question is do you risk losing Dykes even though he probably needs another year of development for Moylan.
