Butler played at Mounties last year and I think he got suspended once or twice throughout the season so if he got suspended for the same thing this year you would think they would take that into account, hence the lenghty suspension.

The JBC rep team has won its first 2 games in the Quad series, beating NSW Country 28-14 and Great Britain Lions 52-6.

The JBC rep team won their final rounf robin game against Queensland Rangers by 52-12. Despite being undefeated they must beat NSW Country again in the final to take the title. Last year they beat Country in the round game but lost the final.

It is good to see that Brad Davis is going so well with the Titans in the NRL. A few years ago he was playing with Ourimbah in the JBC and when they dropped out half way through the season without a win he and another Ourimbah player, Aaron Sweeney went north to play in the Queensland Cup and then Davis progressed from there.

THE Jim Beam Cup representative side clinched the 2008 Quad Series with a 28-8 victory over NSW Country at Stockland Park today.


The XXXX Rangers finished third after a hard-fought 34-16 win over the Great Britain Community Lions.

Date: 20/07/2008Reds Hit Back With Great Win

The WA Bartercard Reds broke through for their fifth win of the season beating the Chester Hill Rhinos and moving a game ahead of them on the table. With a final score of 29 to16 it was good for the local side to get back into the winners list.
Without their leading players in Shayne McMenemy and Jason Godecke who are playing for the Jim Beam combined side in Queensland, the Reds relied on their up and comers who did not let them down. They were also without Tyrone Coppedge and Delane Edwards both on the injured list.
The game started on a positive note for the Reds after chasing down the kick after the first set to hold the ball in the end zone. They then pushed hard for the next 10 minutes but could not break through letting the Rhinos off the hook. With no score from either side for the first 20 minutes, the game was affected by errors.
It was Clae Morgan who finally broke through for the Reds followed by Heath Egglestone at the 25 minute mark who caught the opposition on the overlap. The half time score of 10 nil to the Reds was enough to spur them on for the second half.
One of the highlights of the first half was the tackle on the try line by the Reds best player Mick Kestel who made up some big ground to push the Rhinos runner over the line just before the siren.
After the break Isaac Thomas scored first at the 5 minute mark after a series of quick plays which caught the Rhinos napping.
Chester Hill’s Matt Lamb found a hole at the nine minute mark to score a try to lift the side which then started challenging the Reds for the first time. After 3 penalties in their own 10 metres the Reds finally succumbed to let another try over taking the game to 16 – 10 at the 18 minute mark.
With the Rhinos tiring, Kestell stepped through the defense for an easy try which he then converted.
With the score at 22 to 10 Michael Small made a professional foul at the 20 metre line in holding down a player too long after a good offensive by the Rhinos which had him sent off at the 28 minute mark and kept the Reds to one man down for the rest of the game.
Ryan Dickson then scored after a 60 metre play and again with a field goal with 8 minutes to go to give the home side a 19 point lead.
A last minute try and conversion by Rhinos full back Clayton Sellings took the score to 29 – 16.
With 12 points and some telling tackles Mick Kestell was easily the best for the Reds. He was backed up with good games from Steve Gherardi, Heath Egglestone and James McGowan.
The Reds travel to Sydney again next week to take on last placed Southern Sydney Sharks.

TWO BLUES RUN RIOT OVER MOUNTIES

The Cabramatta Two Blues turned in there most clinical performance of the season claiming the prized scalp of the second place Mounties with a 40-23 victory. In a tale of two halves, Mounties totally dominated possession and field position in the first 40 minutes, taking a 17-6 lead into the halftime break. But a halftime rev up from Caretaker Coach Corey Ruttle ensured the Blues evened up the possession ledger in the second forty, and the locals piled on 34 points to 6 to claim a remarkable victory.
The Blues, who lost five-eighth and sharp shooter Aaron Fluke and form hooker Brett Rimmer prior to the match, ran riot in the second forty and were deserved winners.
The Two Blues celebrate PINK Day when they take on Wentworthville at New Era Stadium this Sunday, July 27th at 3pm.

There will be a Jumping castle & face painting for the kids and the chance to meet the Cabra cheergirls as well as the Jim Beam Cup girls

PRETTY IN PINK - PRETTY IN PERFORMANCE

The weather was kind early but As the crowd grew, the storm clouds got darker by the kick off to the Jim Beam Cup a large crowd was on hand, but had to scamper for cover as the rain came, and 4 minutes into the match with Cabramatta leading 4-0, the Referee put a halt to the game as the torrential rain, thunder and lightning made its presence felt. By the time the game restarted, both sides were resigned to the fact that the field was now a mudbath and the side that controlled the ball the best would win. To Cabramatta's credit, a great defensive display and good ball control considering the atrocious conditions contrinuted to a great 42-10 win against Wentworthville.
With powerful centre Allan Burns withdrawing from the match moments before kick off after succumbing to the flu, winger Josh McIlvenney took home the Players Player award for the second time since debuting in the top grade six weeks ago, capping off a remarkable rise for yet another local Cabramatta junior. Backrower and eventual Man of the Match Ross Brown also had a whale of a game, while we was ably supported by Si'ikeaha Teaupa, Casey Ellis and Richie Parker.
Caretaker Coach Corey Ruttle was happy to see Coach Len Stacker return after a succesful operation on his enlarged heart, and kept his string of good performances as Coach in tact with the sides 4th successive win before handing the reigns back to Stacker next week.
"The defensive effort of our guys won us the game today," said Ruttle. "They asked a lot of questions of our defence but we kept shutting them down, that is what I am most pleased about.
"Given the circumstances and under the conditions, this is up there with last week as won of our best wins of the year. I couldn't be happier with the application and commitment the players continue to show," he said.
Despite the dark and gloomy weather, the shining light to come from the day was the sea of pink supporters that covered New Era Stadium and helped contribute to raising in excess of $13,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
This week the Two Blues will trek down the F3 Freeway to tackle the sixth placed Belrose Eagles at Lionel Watts Reserve on Sunday, August 3rd at 3pm. A win will all but cement the side a place in the semi-finals provided a catastrophe doesn't occur later in the year.
Tries - Josh McIlvenney (3), Louis Vaiotu, Francis Vaiotu, Keith Heckenberg, Ross Brown and Si'ikeaha Teaupa Goals - Sammy Aiga 1 from 3 and Aaron Fluke 4 from 5.

Yeah mate...I actually played for the Bulls when I first came to Sydney then left midway through the year (2005) and went to Newtown. I just didnt enjoy my footy there so I asked for a release and got it .
