A negative article from Paul Kent, well I never.

He does have a point around funding of pathways and finalising the CBA. That should have been well and truly sorted by now.

I highly doubt his conversation with 'the NRL' ever happened though.
That is one of the worst written pieces of journalism I have seen.
Who is 'the NRL' and who is 'they' he is asking these questions to?
Was every employee in the organisation going through the figures with him?

Tbf he only had to write one line.
NRL spends $1billion and has what to show for it?

That would have been enough to put the spotlight on the ineptitude of the commission and the nrlhq management team.

I presume grant is just stepping down as chair but will still be on the commission gravy train? With the conflict o clubs and states also on the commission the next 5 years look to be even worse decision making than the last 5, and that is pretty hard to believe possible!

Gallop held the game back a decade and his decisions regarding media deals have held us back even further since. He set the sport up to struggle in this country for the 25 years after his original deal with the tv networks until smith got the clauses wiped. Absolute plodder of a CEO.

Lol Gallop held us back by allowing Rupert to sell himself the rights for a fraction of their value.

Why do posters continue, despite everything, to put so much stock in what news Ltd has to say about RL? They make their money deathriding RL and always have done.

I hate Murdoch and Newslimited as much as the next guy. But the criticisms in the article have been matched up with what Gus Gould said on his podcast a couple of months ago. Gould is no fan of Newslimited either, and he's been scathing about some criticisms it has made about him over the years.

I don't think David Gallop was great, it's just what has transpired currently makes Gallop look better then it should. And yeah I agree Gallop was a newslimited lackey.

Face the facts the commission hasn't delivered what it was set out to do, and there is no getting around it. John Grant has floated pie in the sky ideas of getting extra cash flow by appealing to international markets in USA and China while Sydney crowds are dwindling. Oh please............

Yep. Not just the media deals, though. I don't think the Gallop administration did ANY substantive groundwork on expansion. Sure, there's bugger-all progress being made in first grade expansion by the Commission.. but at least they're trying to broaden the base under it at NSW/Qld Cup level.

That sort of work should've been done as part of the peace deal.

Good deal let's see.
Gallop to the press and world ."We got a record sport deal for this country $500m over 6 years.
Vlad Demetriou a few weeks later .Hi David I have some good and bad news for you, you got your deal out before us, that's the good news. The bad news is ours is $780m over 5 years.

Now would all 12 year old kiddies out there,do an exam question for us"Who got the better deal .?"

And ever since that deal, we have come 2nd.And with that extra money over subsequent TV deals, we may have had actually money in the bank and who knows expansion.
Have we had waste since ,and spent it far better,no doubt, but my point is we were behind the 8 ball since News part owned the shebang,Gallop selling half to himself)(if you like) and we never got out of 1st gear.

Gallop was ordinary,Smith was a waster,Grant a poser and Greenberg needs to grow some.If we can't do something with the next deal, give it to Kim Jon Un,he'll get the dopes to do something.or he'll remove them by artillery fire.

And Paul Kent wouldn't know how to read a balance sheet ,if he was the Oz treasurer.
