Robinson is 44 years of age, Fitzgibbon is 43, if Robbo is intent on being a career coach he may stay at the Roosters until he is Bellamy's age, 61. Fitzy could be in for a long wait.
Yes but if Robbo intends to return to France then Fitzy might not be. Robbo hasn't really got anything else to prove in the game I doubt he will stick at it that long.

You always know when a coach is liked or disliked by the people with real power at the top of the club. Some coaches get away with being on the bottom of the ladder for a year or more. Other coaches get sacked 5 weeks in while sitting a solid 9th.

Unless he has done something violent or corrupt it is absurd to sack someone who is 2 wins behind second.

What about only won 2 of their last 8 games, or even better, not beaten a team that was in the top 8 since 3rd August 2019.
Not absurd at all when you can see the reality of it all, and when you can see this season becoming exactly the same as last year.
Better to move on a problem before too much damage is done.

Bringing "but ifs" into it changes the narrative.
It's looking at the now that counts.

Proof of the pudding will be in the sharks record over next couple of years. If they get to another gf genius move, if they sit outside the 8 or get bundled out first play off game each year, waste of time and morris may have done better. On,y time will yptell if sharks management got it right or not,

This is the other side of the coin.

There is now undue pressure on fitzy to take them to the top immediately.

Dont forget though, he is going to be able to sign half of the squad in his first year. How many first year coaches get to do that? Most have to wait a few years to "get the squad they want".

What good players don’t have a contract for 2022 at this point? Not many is my guess.

That's a good point but it also opens up another topic involving "contracts. You know all too well they get broken at ease these days.

Yeah but if yous want to get someone out of a contract you will have to pay compensation to the club the player is signed with and that goes on your cap, so if you do that to much all that cap space will get eaten up quickly.

Fitzgibbon Coaching since 2011.Coached Country, NSW Blues Assistant

he’s been an assistant coach. Several assistant coaches have bombed when given the head coaching gig, it’s not the same. His only gig as a head coach with top level players is a Mickey Mouse rep game.

Depends if the other club wants the player or not, but your point is taken.

How many coaches do the Sharks need?

maybe this is the start of the coaches arms race, with clubs collecting more and more coaches to beat each other.

we had a similar arms race with captains a while back that culminated with the dragons naming 5 players as captain in 2007

the pool is very shallow for next season to go fishing.

It is, but the NRL behind the scenes game is a world of its own. There are still a few pieces of the puzzle that would be game changes if they come off.
But yes, looking at who is actually off contract doesn't push too many excitement buttons.

So what, all the good coaches have been assistants at some level in their careers. As Hooper said on 360. Craig Fitzgibbon has a better network in the elite levels of the game. As a supporter I am more excited about him as a coach than bomber. I back the club not the coach, sorry we hurt Bombers feelings.
