What a considered response with clear rebuttals and facts.

As opposed to your initial comment full of facts right?

1995 World cup, 4 origin man of the match awards only one of those in 2005, dominated the poms in 2001 and has won 2 golden boots.

Throw in ripping QLD apart from the bench in 2000 and you have a pretty long and successful rep career spanning a decade and if it weren't for injury late in his career it would have been longer.

Yep pretty much just 2005.

You forgot about defence. Turnstile Thursto got ran over again today. That is a fact Canard has not commented on. Johns could play in the middle of the ruck and sit forwards on their arse. JT hopes they don't run his way.

I didn't Not mention it I responded to the dickhead who claimed JT was responsible for losing 2 games he didn't play in.

Like I said JTs rep career far outshines Johns, but I'm not claiming that makes him a better overall player

Yeah but you said Johns didn't play well other than 2005. So that kinda puts a massive red line through everything you say.

It is just amazing what people state and think is 100% correct.

Johns was an amazing defender. The 1995 World Cup he was picked at hooker made your 40 tackles a game a hooker makes and then played as a 7 in attack. He then did it in origin in 1996 and won man of the match there too.

And that isn't even denying Thurston as a great player especially at rep level.

I love how you vehemently defend one thing but ignore the other.

Johns rep career wasn't as good or as consistent as Thurston's and in a 10 year Origin career he only played a handful of good games. He also played in an era when NZ were nowhere near as good as they are now. And England perhaps even worse.

You asked Typical fan about facts earlier but you don't seem have any yourself Canard other than your own opinions. You have already proven with your last claim about Joeys rep career that you cant trust what you say in that regard so why bother posting more?

95 world cup? Australia picked a weakened team (due to super league. Even guys like aaron raper and danny Moore made the australian squad) and were expected to be smashed by new Zealand and England. John's gets picked in the number 9 ( defends at hooker and makes his shed load of tackles in the middle, then switches back to halfback in attack.) Not only do Australia win a seemingly unwinnable world cup, but Johns is player of the tournament. Thurston has won more origin series, but he and Johns have lost the same amount ( 2. Johns in 95 and 98 and Thurston in 05 and 14). John's never lost a series/tournament in his time for australia.

Joey schooled Lockyer and Thurston in his final Origin series. Thurston has played against the worst halves pairing NSW has ever had since Joey retired.

Thurston doesn't have half the rep career he currently has if he was playing against decent NSW halves halves. We have to win games on the back of the other 15 carrying them. Queensland just have to have a few good moments from their halves to win games.

Johns was a specialist at winning unwinnable games and series. 95 World Cup, 97 Grand Final, 2001 Grand Final, 2005 Origin series... all considered outside chances of victory at best.

As best I can see, Thurston is only really a specialist at losing games he's expected to win.

Exactly. Pretty sweet deal for Qld's spine, filling their boots with Origin game & series wins against some of the most inept NSW sides of the past 5 or 6 years. Much easier to shine up against the likes of Pearce & Maloney, etc.

Jarryd Hayne and the mighty Kiwi's have shown how overrated those Queenslanders like Smith,Inglis,Thurston are,Hayne played like 5 or 6 games at FB for NSW and they only lost 1 of those games(QLD can't beat us when Hayne plays his proper position) and these scrubs lost 3 in a row to NZ recently and also lost the World Cup on home soil to Benji Marshall

Jarry Hayne + New Zealand > Overrated Queenslanders

JT has been the dominant origin player over the 8 series run no denying that. He has been playing with the likes of Lockyer, Smith, Slater, Inglis, Hodges,....all of those guys have been considered the best at their position during the dominant QLD run and all besides hodges have been called the best in the world at some point. Its not like he has been dominating a better side or anything. His biggest rival from NSW has been Mitchell Pearce.

The last time JT faced a great NSW Origin team was 2005 when Johns partnered by the likes of Buderus, Mini, Wing and Kennedy wiped the floor with Slater, Lockyer, JT and Smith.

No way would Qld win 8 in a row against a great Blues team like that. This Qld team has been GREAT but let's not pretend that they've done it against a Champion Team. Because when they did face a champion team they got beat resoundingly.

They got beaten last year by a team completely devoid of champion players. Hayne and Gallen might rate a mention, outside of that it's nuffy central when compared to either the QLD team or NSW teams of 10 years ago.

The current QLD team is certainly packed with champions, JT amongst them certainly. It's gotta be good being surrounded by them while your opposite is Josh f**king Reynolds.

Thurston was a raw kid in 2005, and had played a handful of NRL games. QLD from the early 1990's to 2005 were absolute dogshit.

Joey was playing against such mediocre halves as Paul Green, Adrian Lam and Ben Ikin. And QLD fielded teams of players actually playing reserve grade at their club level.

If the point is made that JT was playing in a superstar side against a average team. Than the reverse argument should also be accepted for Joey.
