Does anyone seriously think Darren Lockyer, or any other genuine great, gave less than 100%?

Lockyer gave 100% on the field. It's just that he was always cool as a cucumber where as JT always looks so manic. Doesn't mean he puts in more effort.

I will give the QLDers that Thurston is better then Lockyer.

Honestly the next closest players to Johns were stuart, sterling and lewis.

Stuart was not in the same league as Sterling, Johns or Lewis.

He wasn't far off, but not quite there

Thurston has had the cattle at NQ. He had an absolute star in Bowen in the early years. And then half an origin forward pack. And they consistently underacheive. The responsibility has to stick with their leader and best player.

He has never led a team to a premiership and you cannot be a top tier half in the history books if you have failed the most important test.

Langer played (almost) 3 times as many test. 25 to 9.
Langer played more than double the amount of state rep games. 37 to 14.
Langer won more premierships. 4 to 3.

Yea that way an unfair match up, lockyer always had quality players around him. But Thurston has had his share of decent players around him to. You mentioned the absolute worse of who his played with. You could say Adam Reynolds won a premiership last year with Dave tyrell, Jason Clark and Old man Tuqiri. Johns won a grand final with sean rudder, matt parsons and Paul marquet.
At the time they won the grand final, last year's souths side had the same amount of test players as last years Cowboys. 5, 3 burgess brothers, luke and inglis vs Thurston, tate, tamou, taumololo and Scott)

Did you not miss out on Dylan Walker? And Alex Johnston became a Test player this year! So they had 7. And Tate didn't play after the Origin series at all.

Locky played with 5 test players just in the Broncos Backline alone!

And I think you are doing a massive disservice to claim that Rudder, Parsons and Marquet were not decent first grade players.
