Why this attack on me?? Just because I say I won't pay the $70 membership fee I become the Anti Christ.
Why am I a representative of other Bushies? I would think that role would be more suited to Jess...
The last Grand Final (2009) was the only one I have attended since 1986...
AND what has my friendship with Snoopy Collins got to do with anything.
Why don't y'all get Sevens to line you up with GF tickets....
If I can get mine through a major sponsor of the Raiders, then LUCKY ME...

oh petey..lighten up brother!

I'm only making a point that under Dennis's regime, they made a point of not wanting anyone becoming member, infact they told some of us fans that at a private meeting last year just prior to the football club ellections and whilst I agree that they should of given members a 1 or 2 year grace with the current $25 deal at the very least they are inviting fans to become members.

Talk about a storm in a teacup...

Not worth it for me...plenty of value for people in Sydney who love their Eels. Their choice to join..same as it is my choice not to rejoin.
My pittance won't be missed....hope there is not a revolt by bush members...I was going to say I am a country member, but I knew you all would remember.

Your not, but you are speaking to a demographic here in your quote about their interest the I am asking you opinion once again as to why?

My opinion, people in the bush are interested at $25....not interested at $70...Result - the Club throws all its eggs into one basket, loading the bases with city people.

Hey I am a member of another club, the Stadium Australia Club and I get my tickets for the Grand Final (On-line) about 6 months before everyone else. I think I have to pre-book them this year before May some time. The Same goes for SOO (which I think I have to pre-book by the 1st of February).

So don't see this as an attack, because it isn't it is an honest questioning of your opinion so as I can see the reasoning behind it. Please will you answer the original question, Why are Bushies interested at $25 but not at $70?

Because $25 was value for us in the bush. $70 isn't. As for the old regime promoting membership pffft. who cares. I didn't join up because someone asked me to, I joined because I was interested and wanted to..Same reason as I donated to the 'Keep the Eels at Parramatta Fund' in the late seventies..because I wanted to. I worry about me.
"Looking forward, looking back, we've come a long way down the track"

'Not waving, drowning'..My membership makes no difference, a dozen people out here in Hay withdrawing, makes no difference but multiply that by the members in the regional centres and across the rest of the State. NOW that could make a difference.
But who cares. It is a Club for the STH, and so it should be..Start spreading the news.....

I hear what you are saying Pete, that apart from the extra parafenalia, there is probably more value to those in the city and surrounding suburbs.

I was in both the B&G Army and then joined the PDRLC and I don't get to any games, so some of the stuff they are offering for me is basically useless, but with them combining the two and putting in the extras I am quite happy to pay the extra and forego a few of the other items that are not so useful.

As you say it is personal choice. But I am quite happy with what they are offering at this stage.
Maybe it is something they could look at in the future though for those from the bush that are unable to attend games.

Because $25 is reasonable. $70, IN MY OPINION is not.
We have to fork out for what you people take for granted.
If I lived in Sydney, I would pay it. But I don't and I won't. NO BIG DEAL. (Plus I wouldn't want to join any Club that would have me as a member...Groucho Marx)

Say for instance I wanted to get to Cumberland Oval to watch Parra play the Storm. I have to drive to Griffith (175km), catch a plane (return fare $278), stay overnight, catch a taxi to and from Mascot (add another $40 each way)...up for about $400 and that is not counting food, drinks etc...But wait ...for $70 plus postage you can get a 15% discount on seats ----and a set of steak knives...and the opportunity to have a beer at grossly inflated prices at the Stadium...
I can't afford to get to many matches. I commit myself to the Brisbane SOO every year, and I enjoy and look forward to it, not only for the game, but all the 'hoopla' that goes with it...The SOO Dinner, the corporate box, and catching up with old mates and meeting new ones. I go up there for a couple of days, and it is the highlight of my Sporting Year.
The only games I get to watch the Eels live are in Melbourne. We take in NRL match, Races, Casino and other things blokes do on 'boys trips away'...BUT the Eels haven't played Storm in Melbourne for the past couple of years..and won't again in 2010...

I know it is not a big deal mate, but again you have not helped me understand, so please why is the $70 not reasonable? What is so unreasonable about it?

I understand that you can't get to many games, and it is an expensive proposition to do so, but again that doesn't explain to me why the $70 is not reasonable, instead it tells me that by your choice you have decided to live in an area of our great country, with salt of the earth people, which means it is expensive to travel to Sydney, But I highlighted where I think the value of the pack can come for people in your area, can you please explain the reason for your opinion.

Read my lips T O O E X P E N S I V E for the right to be a member.
$25 is reasonable, $70 is not. People in the Country are better off supporting their local team by way of membership, and just 'being' a supporter of an NRL Club, especially when the 'opportunity' for membership is offered to them with 'trinkets'. I don't want a cap, car stickers, tattoos etc....
I get as much fun out of going over to the Park Oval on Sundays and watching the local team go around, as I do out of the NRL. I have learned over the years that the NRL has become a series of 'exhibition matches' where Club loyalty by most players is determined by the almighty dollar. Blokes you boo this season, are the heroes of the next. I liked it better when there was less money and more passion by the players. AND yes, I am getting old, older...AND with age comes less tolerance
When this attitude spreads to the members...that's when the game starts to slide into oblivion.
$15 > $25 > $70 > next stop $150....See how long it is capped at $70!!!.
Go ahead pay $70...It is worth it for you..It is not worth it for me. By not rejoining it DOES NOT mean my support of the Club will anyway diminish. I have been known as "Parra" in town and Southern NSW for over 40 years. I don't think that will change because I don't rejoin.

Yeah, and I can get a seat there - and in a box, it's closer and better value for me. Might go when the Eels play the Raiders.
I don't get a vote at the Eels, because of the tyranny of distance either.

BTW Thanks everyone for being so concernedabout me not RE JOINING. My little protest at the massive hike from $25 to $70...
Hope you city people all enjoy the benefits of this great 'family club'

Certainly something that should be put forward

OK..let's put the boot on the other foot.....
If anyone wants to join the Hay Magpies..Membership is $50...Free admittance to all home games, membership card, key ring holder, chance to drink schooners @ $3-75, chance to see internationals and meet them personally in the Annual Pie in the Sky match, invitation to ALL Club functions, and you'll be helping out a good Country Club.
If you want to be just a city member without all the frills ...just send $10...and I'll arrange it for you.
PLUS you can get access to the Club's AWARD WINNING website www.haymagpies.leaguenet.com.au
and for that you don't even need to be a member.
BTW ----Good article in the Rugby League Player magazine this month (on Pie in the Sky) if anyone is interested....

When you say half of Hay...do you mean the ex Raiders who have played for Hay viz...David Furner, Andy McFadden, Snoopy Collins, Gary Belcher, Simon Woolford...Levi Freeman Brett Goldspink and next season, probably Toots Croker...
ANYWAY this is not about the Raiders - or Hay - its about the Eels.
I would be interested in a Lifetime Perpetual Membership..They are only probably going to get five more years out of me anyway..If I could pass it onto my son, that would be even better.
But Sssssssh...don't tell the missus...

$25 for membership ....Que Sera, sera....Not $45 to buy junk they can't get rid of.
It is an old ploy use by ARU...Everyone wants a ticket to the Bledisloe Cup. To get a ticket you have to buy a ticket to watch the Wallabies play Japan (or whoever). $140 - $100 for bledisloe ticket $40 for the Japanese match. Gets a crowd to both games.
If you want to be a member of the Eels..pay $25, and the other $45 goes to clear out the excess stocks of caps, key rings, etc etc...Good try...BUT, despite what everyone thinks...THERE IS NOT ONE BORN EVERY DAY.
The old saying, when you play poker with a group of blokes, look around the table to spot the 'sucker'. If you can't see one, get up, because it's YOU..
