Josh Dugan > Jarryd Hayne

In all honesty Dugan is a more complete fullback. Hayne's best attribute at fullback is his playmaking - which works at the Eels but doesn't work at rep level when you have two star halves to do that. Coote actually does the playmaking thing far better than Hayne does, and still manages superior positional play. but hey, he's not Jarryd Hayne...

Stick Dugan at fullback, Hayne on the left wing where he belongs in rep footy, and piss those Dragqueens Morris and Scott off back to club level.

2010 backline:

1. Dugan
2. Gordon
3. Lyon (I'd prefer someone who WANTS to play Origin like Champion or Thompson instead though)
4. Jennings
5. Hayne
6. Campese/Sutton/Carney (Soward is too small, Mullen isn't good enough)
7. Pearce
Actually, 2009 Hayne did less playmaking and more tackle busting/line breaking.
It's only this year that he's tried his hand in playmaking.

While I disagree with the OP, one point that I feel valid is Hayne's defensive positioning. He is too casual positioning himself at the back. Obviously you can't see this on TV.

I don't understand why Parramatta supporters are so precious about it. Hayne should relish the challenge from Dugan and Coote. Haynetrain is only a little kid or a teenage girl so I understand why he is anxious but there are fully grown adults acting like little princesses over the fact Hayne is being challenged.

This should help Haynes game. Unless he is as soft as his supporters.

Occasionally I have seen it on TV, but I know what you mean. Looking forward to seeing him up at skilled park though too see how he fairs

LOL @ canberra fans

i wonder if you'll still be this far up dugans a-s-s when he goes to roosters...................

How about you appreciate Haynes effort on Wednesday as opposed to immediately criticizing him and talking about who his replacement should be. It seems as if no performance in this world will make you guys admit he is a good player and the best NSW have as a fullback.

ahahaha, eat a dick

^LOL. Don't worry, she's firmly placed herself on show-pony Jarryd's already.

Daniel Anderson, it's time to put Burt back at fullback and demote Hayne to the wing.

Nope I was talking about 2009 - you know, when the Eels were playing good, and Hayne was a major part of that.

Based on 2010 form Hayne wouldn't be playing origin at all.

Well to bad he did play this year lol and parra weren't goin great when game 1 selections were being picked

Yeh hayne will relish from the competition and if Dugan or coote get picked over him it's coz they deserved it! And good on them

And on haynetrain noone in our parra forum takes him serious either so everything he writes don't read or listen too

This is especially evident when he is defending close to or behind his own goal line. The 1st try Qld score in game 3 shows this up perfectly.

Just so we are aware Hayne can proudly say he has been part of the past 4 losing NSW sides.

Hayne is crap, crap player and crap attitude. Dugan is the type of young kid you want in your team, he will listen to senior players and act on their command. Hayne thinks he runs the place and can do whatever he wants. Does anyone still remember Lockyer having to pull that wanker into line when playing the Kiwis earlier this year. With Dugan you don't get that and at the same time you get a very very good fullback.

But that said I'm happy if NSW keep picking Hayne at no.1

2011 and 6 series in a row.

hayne was the 2nd most capped player in the NSW team... he IS a senior player.
Hayne is the only player who can say he kept nsw in the hunt in those series.
It isnt his fault the selectors cant pick a team of players capable with him

I'm a Raiders fan and a Queensland fan, so I'd rather you guys didn't pick Dugan in your team. But anyone who doubts he isn't in the top 2 fullbacks with Slater is kidding themselves.

Hayne is brilliant, but Dugan is a better fullback.

Dugan might be better positionally and defensively but he can't kick or ball play. Until he improves either facet of his game he will never be as good as Jarryd Hayne in any position.

hmm...

Hayne doesn't position himself well or show any urgency in defence.

Dugan doesn't kick or ball play.

I wonder which is more important for a fullback
