Fast becoming forgettable as a player. Hope he proves me wrong with a bit of coaching.

Off the field, he seems like an excellent individual and is a credit to our club.

*except to the Queensland selectors..

I watch every Dragons game closely. He isn't making a name for himself. Without wanting to ridicule, Queensland must be really struggling if he ends up getting a start in state of origin.

I don’t think he’s getting a start.

But he’s got their attention..

Plus that of the all stars selectors.

He impressed in the all stars match. I think he scored two tries. These things get remembered but I am struggling to find a game in the last two years where he has dominated and got us over the line.

I think it is a great selection from the maroons...because I'm a Blues fan.

He’s solid, without dominating yet..

He needs to find that mongrel to dominate..

But a solid player is still important..

Ah Mau was solid without being dominating.. And we’ve missed him the last 2 seasons..

Well it looks like we finally agree on something. I think the big fella has been let down badly this year by Vaughan, Sims x 2. Hopefully 2021 will be more positive

He does ok in limited minutes, just not sure he is capable of handling longer minutes.
In our NRL prop rotation we need 3 first grade hard nosed props and one rookie to bring through in limited minutes each game. Kerr is that rookie. Vaughan and two new recruits are the other props in our prop rotation.

Improvement in Kerr's fitness needs to be a priority for him in pre-season training.

I'm not sure that 'hard-nosed' is/are what we really need. The new rules basically require props to be skillfull ball-playing types. Infortunately, our previous regime only focused on the 'powa' game with one out running, thats basically it. There was no developmemt of any skill set. Vaughan has gone backwards, Lawrie hasnt really developed and the same with Kerr. Kerr in the Allstars game v Kerr at club level are almost 2 different people. Same could be said of Frizell.

I agree, however, that we currently lack an 'enforcer' type. An influencer on the field that the oppisition are wary of. As discussed before, Tariq was that person and before that JDB.

Our forwards are going to be in for a real change under Griffin and withbthe inclusion of some skillfull players our style of play will look completely different next year. My only concern is that the muacle memory of some players will be so ingrained that they cannot adjust quick enough.

All very good points Slayer, Which is why I’d be happy with someone like Asiata for a different point of attack.

I still have faith Kerr will turn into a good prop for us. I don’t think he has much mongrel but not every player needs it. He’s tall and fast and has some skills. This is his first full season where he has got a decent run. Another full pre season or two and a good game plan that takes advantage of his skills will do him the world of good. As you correctly say he always seems to lift in rep games.

We have the following props in our current squad:
Vaughan
Kerr

Lawrie
Ellis

To me, Lawrie and Ellis are reserve grade quality and Kerr should only occupy the 4th prop position in our prop rotation. We really need to recruit 2 first grade props as a matter of urgency with Kerr coming off the bench for low minutes until he comes up to standards.

I'd like to see two of the following three props recruited for 2021:

1. Ofahengaue
Three year deal.

2. Matt Lodge
One year deal with option in favour of the club for a further two years. Behaviour clauses to be included in his contract.

3. Pangai Jr
One year deal with option in favour of the club for a further two years. Behaviour clauses to be included in his contract.

I suppose at the moment;

  • Asiata or
  • McGuire
would be the only suitable replacement players for Frizell. 'We should table a 3 year deal to one of these two players.

Lodge's knee is finished, he may string a few games together here and there but his longevity in the game is gone, might question his impact also.

Broncos are trying to keep it hush hush so they do not scare off other clubs from picking up his contract.

That's three props from the wooden spooner's. I wonder what Millward would think of that...

Kerr's development has been hampered as as been the case for most if not all our players.

Kerr is never going to be the Klemmer, Maguire or JWH type pf prop so don't expect that from him.

If he continues to develop his fitness and agility in the centre re defence and his ball playing / offloads are developed he will be much more than a handy club player.

Hopefully the coaching staff have well and truly got the "hooks" into him and if he gets the game plan to suit his talents then that will be good for him and the team.

Possm I strongly suggest you do some homework on Lodge’s history in regards to violence, violence to both men and women, alcohol, anger issues etc both here and overseas. This bloke should not even be registered to play in the nrl let alone at our club!!

I really don't know what Millward is thinking. In my view he should have had forwards lined up for 2021; but apparantly not.

I believe Hetherington would have been a good pickup but now he has gone to the Dogs. I'm not sure of other props that are on the market but if you have some suggestions, I'd be glad to hear of them.

I do have faith in Griffin but I think we need to at least give him a chance to develop a competitive forward pack for season 2021.
