Judiciary Charges 2019

Annesley should ditch the meaningless stats and do this instead. It would mean much more to the game's supporters and provide transparency. Unfortunately, as the season's gone on Annesley is more and more trying to avoid criticism/damage to the refereeing "brand" and becoming more and more inconsistent in doing so.

Annesley made a complete dick of himself in the briefing today; desperately trying to argue that the match review committee look into minutae that the general fan doesn't see and cannot understand.
20 minutes of "I wasn't there, I can't tell you why they were graded differently".

Not sure he completely understands exactly how pissed off the fans are with the inconsistency.

You dudded yourself out of a cracking game of footy.

There's plenty of good games to come. For reasons explained, I'll watch Melbourne if & when they play my team & Manly if I have the chance to barrack for others.

Prejudices are important- they help you winnow out crap you don't have time to pay attention to.

This was Annesley's defence of the MRC today:

Annesley defended the panel's independence from League Central, which adjudicates each year on who makes up the MRC.

Former Eels and Bears five-eighth Michael Buettner acts as the committee's chairman with ex-players Stuart Raper, Michael Robertson and Michael Hodgson currently serving and up for review at the end of the season.

"It's an independent process and that's what it needs to be," Annesley said.

"We've got to have some degree of credibility around the process, it can't be at the whim of me, (CEO) Todd Greenberg or anybody else.

"… We've got former players who have played the game at the top level making those decision.

"Everyone is entitled to disagree with that, everyone is entitled to disagree with the decisions the referees make every week.

"But what are we going to do, referee the game based on video rather than have people on the field?"

Little nudge to the melon. Hardly worth a bluey but I bet they'll be watching him carefully in coming games.
