Correct, but Fans are walking away from the game...Everybody can see what the imbalance is, but no one in the mainstream media up until now will address it..............

AFL is run professionally...eg they did a 20 year study before bringing in GWS....

NRL talks relocation and crosses their fingers hoping for the best....just look at the Gold coast....

Has never been successful to any large degree....Surely a draft system would help them attract players etc...( Yes I know the RLPA is against the Draft), but they may have no sport left in 20 years if we continue on the same trajectory.
Agree, GS. I can see why the RLPA would be against a draft- clubs paying overs for players (Ben Hunt anyone?) would be minimized. As for crowds dropping off there could be a number of things in play: the issue of NRl being ideal for TV has already been covered in these forums, standard of refereeing, constant rule changes, etc.

We didn't pay overs for Hunt...that is a myth. Point is certain clubs attract Top line players and they always seem to magically fit them in under their cap when they already have a Team full of Rep players.

while teams like the titans/warriors etc..struggle to attract the same type of talent.

86 it is not the RLPA only..our law and case precedent wont allow it in NSW as a restraint of trade
Maybe they are better run clubs who get the better coaches..hence better players.
owners finacially support well maybe the key
However halfway through that list Storm were found to be systematically rorting the cap and could of been doing it since they came in to the comp.
Dragons 99 GF winners.
Brisbane have failed to a point because they have not found the right coaches outside of Benny who also probably past his time when he went back...time will tell!...
because money for Brisbane is not a problem

Thats true mate, but those stats by Drew are alarming for the code.

50's and 60's were a totally different era. The whole argument for the cap and the laughable TPA's was to even out the comp now thats its national.

In any other code, the NZ Warriors would have won a title or two by now. Has the NRL even grown the code in NZ ? Are we denting Union at all there ? I doubt it.
Never will dent it over there

Shades of 1956 to 1966 when the four (later 6) tackle rule was bought in, supposedly because St George were dominating the competition for eleven years straight and attracting the best players. Wests, Souths, Balmain and Manly dominated the list of losing grand finalists in those years. The Tall Poppy Syndrome will always emerge if a team in any sport dares to dominate the scene for too long.
Not true. The four tackle rule started in England before we accepted it here.Dont

.

Wrong. Get bitter.
LMAO you do make laugh. I do too, shh now.

Get your own TPAs

As you can..Or hire McGregor, replace with Barrett or Brown, or be Wests, or Us, or Parra, they really think Moses is the man.

Some do it better.

Keary scalps a bloke...gives him an uppercut and knocks him out of the game and can play in the GF...

Frizell getting back onside bumps into a referee unintentionally, (a butterfly could have done more damage) and he gets suspended...

Another reason for not watching this poorly run sport.
Exactly R&WTILLIDIE. We always seem to cop raw deals and when they dole them out it becomes more disheartening particularly when you see Cronk last year getting off to play in the GF and now Keary. If it was a Dragons player, like Norman say, he would be penalise and on put on report and then suspended without fail!

Or Melbourne for that matter they have been there long enough and been successful enough to start producing a few local juniors by now. The clubs that are going bad seem to be the ones that actually produce juniors. Fair enough the Roosters might be good at identifying and bringing through other teams juniors but if the Dragons, Penrith, Brisbane, Warriors etc ceased to exist there would be no one left at the grass roots thats actually plays anymore.

And the way it has been refereed this year makes it even more suss. Some really strange decisions.

There have always been dodgy decisions made by refs and touch judges but lately - especially in the Pay TV era - some decisions are truly baffling, not to mention inconsistent.
I heard someone the other day justifying this in terms of "the referees interpretation of the rules" which, to me, is total BS. If written clearly, a rule is a rule. What's to interpret?
So why are there grey areas in the rules? Cos Rugby League has become a soap opera. It thrives on controversy. The more Kardashian style hyperbole and BS goes on the more NRL HQ think we like it.
Clearly they happen to be wrong.

So exactly how much did we pay for Hunt at the beginning and end of his contract?
Your opinion of what is considered overs compared to other opinions might mean a fair gap re $$$ / year and in fact may not represent a myth at all.
