Kearney should Dump Mortimer

I'm sure SK will try and develop Morts into an NRL halfback, thats his job and how successful that will be is way too early to tell.

As for whether he dumps him, also way too early to tell.

The eels are f**ked from the board room right down to the bottom of the barrel fans that post here. Rugby league doesn't have the brightest reputation and it seems like the basement dwellers with no social skills what-so-ever here add a whole new dimension.

It might be very interesting to see how Mr Kearney uses Mr Mortimer and Mr Robson. They seemed to be able to do the job at the back end of 2009. Im damn sure Mr Mortimer wont be required to make 40 tackles per game in 2011.
Its interesting how a team with a workaholic, non traditional type half back and a reject 5/8 could win the comp? A good coach is better than a good halfback any day. Just ask the Cowboys.

I take your point about Hornby and Soward.

Robson is more the Hornby-type and unfortunately neither Robson or Mortimer have Soward's boot.

I still admire qualities of both our players, but I don't think they strike quite the right balance together (as Hornby and Soward seem to). I hope Kearney can either come up with a strategy to make that combination work, or look for other solutions.

The combination worked in 2009, but in 2010 it either mysterious stopped working or the team changed in some way - either in terms of style of play or just from the loss of Kingston. Maybe other teams just worked us out.

Anyway, we can't persist with exactly what Anderson was doing and expect success. I think Kearney will be clever enough to realise that.

Well I know that Kearney believes we are able to turn it on at times this year and become untouchable, but our problem is consistency....something he has already said he wants to work on is a better coaching and training regime, and also after having been described by both Brad Arthur and Craig Bellamy as a great man-manager (something Anderson apparently lacked), he really is aiming to get us performing to our best week-in week-out, which IMO is the biggest step forward we have to take.

I'm not sure what type of playing style we will play under Kearney though, it could very well be a well-drilled and confident style of defence and attack that the Storm are famous for, or it could be a mix of the offload and support & Storm style.

I am wondering the same thing, it will be very interesting to see which way he goes.
Cant wait for when we play the Storm.

Hopefully Kearney gets rid of Burt too. If he likes the Kiwi or Storm style of big strong wingers then Lukey boy will be on the outer as he offers NOTHING

i hope he is forced to start mortimer in every game just like DA was forced to do.

I found it interesting that the first thing he wanted in his contract was power to fire or hire any player.

Sounds to me like DA did not have that power.

bullsh*t...What proof do you have that DA was forced to start mortz every game?? Someone on here through up that suggestion based on an uneducated guess

Proof s there to the point the club was even scared to drop him for a week.

Then kearney comes out & has assurances that he will be the 1 in charge. You work it out. Tahu has been going off doing what he wants. Coaches & players all here what is going on at each club & the fact Kearney needed that confirmed pretty much spells out what happened.

That is just you drawing ur own conclusions.

The club scared to drop him for a week?

Perhaps Ando beleived there was no1 better, Perhaps ando was too proud to admit he got it wrong and dint want to drop mortz. Like what you are doing i am just drawing my own conclusions. THEY R NOT PROOF and neither is ur statement.

You have every right to have an opinion but dont say you have proof when clearly u dont

Anderson was the one that tried the Mortimer at halfback experiment spartan2153, so I would guess he is the one that called the shots....
