I like Kearney and like everyone else, I am willing him on to succeed. It's not happening.

But we have serious problems - issues that go deeper than we think...

The club is in a mess.

How? Not doubting you, it is just interesting to know what are our issues are, as some of us don't have a full understand of the issues we are facing and just base our comments/opinions on what we read in the paper etc.

I'd give Sticky a ONE YEAR deal. For the sole purpose of putting some backbone into the squad.

beyond that we'd just be 'haganing' ourselves again.

Perhaps 1 year for Sticky with JT as either assistant coach or head coach of Wenty. Then give JT the job the following year.

What if he kept the Origin gig ? JT took over for those few weeks he was away ?

Sounds like a good idea.

Ok, after watching the game with someone who coaches junior league, we came to the conclusion there are major issues

There are no line runners when we have possession in the opposition 20 and therefore no otionsa and we get picked off, the simple in side ball is killing the plays. Unless Hayne (see Cronulla), or even Roberts ( vs Manly ) has a blinder we have no options at all

That is almost it in a nutshell, if the coaches cant get those basics into a team after a seaon and a half then they have to be on shaky ground.

There are plenty of other issues, but there seems to be no sense that they are at one with the coaching staff. I really thought SK woujld succeed, and am disappointed that it has not worked, but as a season ticket holder since 1982, there is every chance I wont renew for 2013 unless there is change.

I dont even watch much NRL these days as I am too ticked off at my beloved team sinking this low.

Time for a change and be quick about it

Coming from you - another WOW.

Yeah but neither Gould or Muray could get the side to win a gf. Gee Gould couldn't even get the side to the gf and he signed any one he wanted - but Stuart did it three years in a row. Every nrl coach inherits a side it is what they do with the side that counts, and he got some pretty impressive results with roosters

He took over good teams & turned them into crap, thats where the problem is. Stuart is a coach that sucks the life out of teams. He did it with the roosters & he did it with the sharks.

Gould rebuilt that team from cellar dwellars into semi final regulars. Murray lost a grand final to the broncos who had, sailor, tuqiri, langer, walters, webcke, gee, tallis, thorn, ryan. thats just a few off the top of my head.

I think kearney is a myth & its bvious in how i speak about him but out of the 2 evils i would take kearney.

Taylor has to take over because of his link t hayne & sandow. Hayne is the key. YOu get him onside & you get the team flying. STuart i can see stuffing up with his mind games.

I cant see smith leavin a head coaching job to be a director of football. This would be ideal.

Taylor for me would be ideal

Plenty of this might help......

Don't get me wrong not saying Stuart should be our coach just don't think his club record is bad as it is made out to be. Taylor is my preference but his lack of nrl coaching over the last few years is a concern . A Brian smith in a Phil Gould type role and Taylor as nrl coach would be what I would targeting.

Brian Smith pisses off too many players. He wore out his welcome at Parra with the players and seems to have done the same at the Roosters.

In the background Phil Gould type of roll, maybe things will be very different for Brian Smith. Brian consults and guides, etc, and JT runs the squad as he feels inspired to do so.

In the past, JT seems to have pissed off a player or two but I see that as pottentially a good thing. Don't mind a coach confronting players about their attitudes, etc. Love a coach who has some fireworks in readiness when required.

Unfortunately, having witnessed things and spoken to people, it has become clear that there is division amongst the playing ranks. And getting rid of Kearney might not resolve things, as there are those who back him and those who want to see him gone. There is an impasse of sorts and it is very unprofessional and messy.

I'll tell you what Delboy would say:

The players got the job done last year, there has been no progress this year.

SK was one of my favourite non-Parra players. Loved his toughness and ability to just 'win' when he played footy.
I thought our team rounds 11-26 mostly resembled his attitude last season. They played decent footy without a lot of luck and lacked class in the halves and centers.

I have theories as to why we didn't start out that way this year, but in the end the proof is on the paddock. We've regressed big time. The classy players we brought in have been underutilised, nobody seems to trust anybody else, and results reflect that.

I'd wager SK is waaaay down on confidence himself, and doesn't even trust his own system, and so is trying stupid tricks - none of which work of course.

I think you've got it right there. That's us in a nutshell.

I have my reservations about Ricky Stuart but he's definitely the best qualified and widely respected coach available.

His tenure at both the Roosters and Sharks started off on fire (Premiership with one, minor premiership with the other) but quickly went to shit shortly after....why was this the case?

No doubt this is the case. WHOever the next coach is has to get HAyne onside. For me he is the true leader of this team & not hindy or mannah. YOu get hayne to buy in to your system then the rest is smooth sailing.

Michael jordan had the same problem in his early days. Phil jackson took over & explained to him he has to play to a system & he will deliver him what he cherrishes the most a nba championship. HE got him onside & the rest again is history.

Hayne is the key & always has been.I love hidy but at the end of the day he is a straight shooter. Hayne needs someone that can piss in his pocket while pulling him in line.

I like smith & have a lot of respect for what he has done in structuring clubs from juniors up. Roosters in the next couple of years are going to be awesome. Newcastle he was run out of town but in the end. They were winning wooden spoons when johns was injured & he turned that around.
He always leaves clubs in a better position than when he got there which is the sign of a great coach.

If we could have a coaching director in this type of role that would be great. I would want someone who does not want the top job. Eg john lang he thru taylor under the bus the whole management did. Taylor would have learnt from his mistakes there.

That's a fair comparison.

...if Ricky is our coach then Hayne will be wearing 6 in his 'system'.

I wonder how that will go down?

Is just me or are others wanting to throw their phone against a wall when Casper post those stupidly large pictures that add no value but stuff up the page format?

Is there a way he can be blocked from doing it?

no, but we do ask that people post the URL link instead of the image if the image is too large

if it causes vertical scrolling then we remove it
