Was at SouthsLogan also...
Ahhh hindsight.
I am still confused why they went hard for him.......
No hindsight! There are plenty of us who knew Kearney had no lower grade coaching experience and the NZ success was tainted!
Why didn't the board know????????
This IS NOT an "I told you so" it is about us, (as Pou Pou would put it) "useless merkins" knowing something as simple as his coaching record......

what is worst is we let go of a bloody great coach
Who's not coaching any more because he doesn't want to, right?

Shane Flanagan had at least a 10 year resume coaching lower grades and being an assistant coach at 3 different clubs including ours. Mcguire won a premiership in the UK as head coach and the broncos coach had come through the grades working there and knew the players credientials and knew what he was working with as soon as he took the job. A rookie coach can work if he has the right credientials and in the right circumstances. That's not the case with kearney though.

I missed that response to my post but well summed up Kornstar. Simply saying 'Ahh in hindsight' doesn't cover it. The fact is those clubs looked more into the results, credentials and experience of the assistants coaches they were signing/promoting whereas our club just head-hunted a guy solely for the sake he was the assistant coach of the Melbourne Storm.
Welcome back Mr Hyde, what happened to Dr Jekyl?:crazy:Who's not coaching any more because he doesn't want to, right?
That wasn't the sole reason he was head-hunted. He was tasked with re-building the side - he's this far managed to snag Hopoate, Lussick (unproven, true - but he's young, aggressive and huge), and Blair; he's developed Sio, and Morgan is improving; he's manage to improve Keating's game; and he's focused on keeping talented youngsters like Kelepi Tanginoa, Frazer Masinamua and Pauli Pauli.
His coaching record is abysmal and he's not liked - but he wasn't just hired because he was associated with the Storm.

He may have been hired to do that... but what you are describing he's achieved anyone could have done. He's signed a player that is still 18 months away from joining the club... and Lussick. Great. Blair, Sio, etc were going to improve naturally. No offence mate but in the space of 18 months these are his biggest achievements and we should be commending him for them, you are clutching at straws.

that may be true but if we didn't have the retention program both SK and Nolan have implimented would they be at Parra or somewhere else?
his coaching is alot to be desired but his handling of juniors is great i'll give him credit for that
