Jersey Flegg highlights start at 8:36. Roosters scored the first 3 and then Knights scored 4 in a row to win.

Tries to;
#4 James Johnson
#1 Fletcher Sharpe (gets an offload mid-field and just burns everyone)
#14 Noah Nailagoliva (barges over from dummy half)
#14 Noah Nailagoliva (gets an offload from Oryn Keeley and powers his way over again)

Nailagoliva is a nuggety hooker with plenty of creativity out of dummy half and one of my favourite young prospects at the club. I’ve gotten the sense he isn’t rated as highly internally as I view him, so glad to see him coming up with big plays to win an important game like this. Sharpe is very similar to Davy Armstrong, don’t know if he’ll ever be big enough to survive first grade but is incredible to watch in open space.

bigger cheers when they score than first grade. They care. Refreshing.

Jersey Flegg 32-30 win over Canberra highlights start at 0:56
https://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2022/08/24/jersey-flegg-cup-highlights-round-23/

Tries to;
Fletcher Sharpe
Kurt Donoghoe
Fletcher Sharpe
James Johnson
Thomas Cant
Max Bradbury

Roosters lost to the 3rd placed Tigers meaning we’re now tied for 1st on points but Roosters have an insurmountable lead on points differential. Both sides play bottom 4 opponents in the last round so unlikely to leap them regardless of our result, though the Roosters are on a 3 game losing streak after dominating all season.

I just learnt Flegg is now under 21s.

Does that mean there should be more first grade ready players than we think. Or is it a bad sign they’re playing Flegg and not reserves?

Most of the Jersey Flegg side were in SG Ball earlier this season so they're 18/19 year olds
Ah that’s excellent then. Had a mild panic they were full of players on the cusp of 21 and that why they were doing so good. Just sounds like a Newcastle thing. Wonderful they’re a younger team and doing well.

Jersey Flegg lost 34-22 to Parramatta in the final round so locked in to 2nd place regardless of the Roosters result. Not certain but I'm pretty sure the top 2 both get the first week of the finals off anyway.

Tries to;
Keanu Wainohu-Kemp
Fletcher Sharpe
Thomas Cant
Mitch Henderson

Roosters scraped out a 66-0 win over Melbourne anyway so a win wouldn't have done anything for our positioning.

I was assuming it was a top 6 finals format and we'd have the week off but turns out it's a top 5 so we play 3rd place Penrith this Saturday at 12:45pm, and it'll be live streamed by the NSWRL website.

Knights up 16-4 at halftime. Dominated possession and field position but 2 of our tries were pretty arsey, and I'll never count out Panthers junior sides until the game is over.

Knights hold on to win 22-16. Tries to Oryn Keeley, Fletcher Sharpe, James Johnson & Paul Bryan.

Now play the Roosters next week in a grand final qualifier, the loser gets another chance the following week.

Oryn Keeley is out. He was put on report for a late hit on a kicker so I assume that's the reason. Nailagoliva & Martin are 2 big returns from injury on the bench but still no Glamuzina or Vea'ila.
