Your right Dragon Dave

Your right Dragon Dave they are not fans of the Dragons, they are Cronulla refs and nothing has changed
I know that like us as fans of the Dragons, the refs would be fans of clubs that they have been following for years. As you say Ghostrider, the Badgers are Cronulla refs (I thought they were Tigers fans but I'm not too sure and you could be right).

How can they not show some bias as a result? Like, I'm a Dragons supporter through and through and if I reffed a game between the Dragons and another team, I would look at giving six agains and other penalties etc more to the Dragons, of course not overdoing it though. So to stop this, can the Refs' Assoc ask each ref who their favourite team is and then make sure that they don't ref them in games?

I know that my query is stupid, but I just wonder.

It could work DD. I know I can watch any game of league not involving the Dragons and behave in a calm, rational and appreciative way, just accepting that a team has to make some mistakes during a game. But when the Dragons play my behaviour borders on grumpy, snarly and irrational - not accepting anything less than perfection! So I agree, let the refs declare their allegiance and they don't ref those games!

I'm sure that where certain cricket tests are played, in most cases, that the umpires on the pitch and in the video room are from other countries so that there should be no favouritism shown one way or the other when decisions are to be made.

The same applies when say Tonga plays NZ - the ref isn't Tongan or NZ, it will most probably be Australian.

Greg "Hollywood" Hartley was a mad Bulldogs supporter. I can't recall how many of their matches he reffed and if he did, I'm not sure if he helped them in any way, I don't think so?

Henry Perenara I had some suspicions with when he reffed us in games (if I can say this - if not, let me know and I will edit my post).

I think almost every fan, particularly if their team loses, believes the ref was biased towards the opposition. The issue has been exacerbated under V'Landy Ball. At the start of a game an error can lead to a penalty and a string of 6 agains and penalties, so that the offending team doesn't see the ball for 20 minutes or so and the game is over. Even if momentum changes later in the game, the damage is already done. The losing team's fans perceive bias, only remembering the initial onslaught of penalties. The winning team's fans think the ref is biased for trying to get square in the later stages! The refs have a tough job, but that doesn't stop me believing that they don't like the Dragons! Perenara does seem to dislike the Dragons, even though he played for them. Don't get me started on the General! I thought Atkins was great and fair in the first half against Souths, but momentum swung in the second half. Seems to me, bias or not, if you don't start fast and get on top, you usually lose.

Well put, thanks OED.

The Dragons opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 10th minute when winger Alexander Lobb leapt high over the defence to score in the right corner for a 4-0 lead.

Former Manly second-rower Jack Gosiewski showed a clean pair of heels after hitting a gap to outpace full-back Jake Toby to score in the corner for an 8-0 lead six minutes later.

Four minutes later, Blacktown Workers opened their account when winger Ray Vaega used his strength to crash over in the right corner for an 8-4 scoreline.

St George-Illawarra winger Treigh Stewart made sure he got in on the tryscoring opportunities when he crossed in the 28th minute for a 12-4 lead.

Blacktown Workers then conceded a try two minutes from half-time after full-back Tyrell Sloan raced away for a try under the posts. Half-back Kamren Cryer converted to give the Dragons an 18-4 lead at half-time.

The Dragons were left a man short three minutes after half-time when Gosiewski was placed on report and sent to the sin bin.

Blacktown Workers quickly capitalised when Toby chimed into the backline to throw a dummy to score out wide. Half-back Dylan White converted for an 18-10 scoreline after 49 minutes.

Just prior to Gosiewski's return, the Dragons went to a 22-10 lead when Lobb leapt high to defuse a crossfield kick to score his second try in the 52nd minute.

Blacktown Workers were then left a man short in the 60th minute when Vaega was placed on report and sin-binned following a brief altercation.

The Dragons capitalised a minute later when they spread the ball left for centre Ethan Clark-wood to score in the corner. Cryer converted for a 28-10 lead.

The scoreline blew further out when Sloan crossed for his second try three minutes later for a 34-10 lead after 66 minutes.

Blacktown Workers scored a late consolation try when winger Pio Seci ran 70 metres to score in the corner. White converted for a 34-16 scoreline.

The loss leaves Blacktown Workers on the bottom of the ladder, three points behind Wests Magpies, with six rounds and a bye remaining.

Blacktown Workers now play Newcastle Knights at 4 Pines Park on Saturday, July 16, at 12.40pm prior to the Jersey Flegg Cup and NRL matches between the two clubs.

Anyone stick their hands up with a performance to demand promotion ?? Please , please !!

Highlights
Sloan great with ball in his hands but is Duftyeske in defence. I think ( hope ) a few extra kilos will give him the confidence to get into the rough stuff. He needs a big off season to work on this. A few games as winger in NRL might be worthwhile .

Also very lacklustre in kick returns still. Only made 9 post-contact metres, which isn't good enough. Although he's developing, I say that it's not good enough because against the Titans he had 54PCM, and last season, I recall him making well over 30PCM against first-grade sides. When he runs the ball at speed he doesn't ever get smashed, so I don't know why he's running so slowly to meet the defence. He seems to get rag-dolled less than Ramsay when he charges up with the ball in hand. Also, last season his defence was really good and he saved a lot of tries. But this season, he seems much more conservative in his way of making tackles, which mainly started in that game against the Sharks. I'm not sure what's caused this.

However, looking at the highlights from yesterday, I'm really impressed by his support play. His ability to 'glide' in his running style makes him the ultimate support player as we've seen plenty of times.
