Dogs mistake 2... They failed to sign someone decent to play along side him. Benji, Burton, anyone would be better than what’s there right now.
They were convinced they'd get Burton this year, and they weren't alone.

Was that a nudge nudge wink wink to burton to to remain at panthers

Even if the Dogs suddenly decided they didn't want Burton, he won't be at Panthers. We can't afford to retain him under the cap. Which was the major reason he signed at the Dogs, they were offering more money and a chance to play in the halves.

Mistake 3 - I’m not convinced Barrett could coach a Choko vine up a back fence. He should be the first one defending that kid. Even if everyone else at the Dogs thought that press conference today was ok, Barrett should’ve known it wasn’t. A good coach absolutely does not set a young kid up like that.

I hope young Flanno leaves. I hope he ends up at a decent club that works through his weaknesses and he ends up having a long career. He has the makings of a decent player, he just needs to be protected from the wolves while he finds his place.
Barrett: Flanagan's poor end-of-set options behind benching

Barrett was giving it to Flanno just the other day, he’s a f**kstick who can’t coach and is looking for whatever outlet to assign blame to he can. Flanno’s the new garden furniture and gym cleaning.

That shit warrants a 'please explain' from the Bulldogs. 22 year old halfback of arguably the worst team (my Sharkies are hunting those L's too look out) who got hooked on the weekend then left out of the 17 for next week gets rolled out for a press conference .. WTF?

Even if the media weren't vulchers there was nothing positive to discuss with Flanagan. No coach, let alone one whose played the game and copped the crap like Barrett should ever think thats helpful. That pretty boy should've fronted up and put on the water works himself.

Shane always protected his players, most do. He must be seeing some red flags in that.

Are Flanagan's team mates doing the instagram love?

Barrett is shit. He was crap at Manly so why on earth would a club with the worst roster in the comp give him another crack..

remember when coaches actually helped players improve? No wonder players love to play under some coaches, they would be the ones who can help you develop and grow your game, not just be the scapegoat for the teams failings,

The more I watch the NRL it seems the best coaches are the ones that show a genuine care for their players, you see some coaches who are clearly great tacticians but can't get their team firing (Matt Elliot and Seibold immediately spring to mind)

Holy f**k, they wheeled him out after he was dropped? I'd have to believe Flanagan volunteered to front them, otherwise that is the ultimate dick move by the Bulldogs.

I don't think anyone will write him off, he's young, is playing for a f**king hopeless team under a f**king hopeless coach. Plenty of time to come good.

22 and left out to dry, so brutal on the young fella. He had the nerve, gall and the ability to be vulnerable on camera in a fairly ordinary situation for him. I’ve given the kid a little bit of greif in the game days for being an arrogant mouth breather (on the field) but the guts he showed yesterday is admirable. Confidence comes and goes, with proper guidance AND coaching he will be right.

Trent Robison along with Bennett and Bellamy, has a reputation for getting the best out of players both professionally and personally. He has shown care beyond most when it comes to concussions for example and has been flexible in giving players time off for emotional reasons such as Latrell Mitchell’s frequent Taree trips. He has shown patience with players such as Ikuvalu, Hutchison and Lam for example who have struggled to get a permanent gig in firsts before injuries to key players gave them their chance. Yet, he was quick to show Flanno the door halfway through his contract. It says a lot about the player and that the rumours of poor attitude and not getting on with the senior players are possibly true. Or maybe he’s just not that good? Also, Robbo took the criticism for his axing when he could’ve listed his grievances.

I’m not excusing Barrett for what happened yesterday of course. Dumping the kid to reggies is fine but don’t dump him in front of the media. Humiliation doesn’t help anyone. Barrett is taking it out on the kid for what he now sees as a poor recruitment choice.

Barrett is desperate and using Flanno as a scapegoat imo, Flanno hasnt been good but no one in that side has, Barret has possibly made them a worse team with his coaching which would be quite the achievement.

Edit: All that being said if the kid is feeling that pressure he probably needs a break from getting hammered in first grade but surely you could do it in a better way.

They wheeled him out before he knew he was dropped. The media asked him if he was in the team and he something like "Yeah I think so I havent been told I am not".....then a couple hours later he is dropped.

It doesn't matter if Adam Reynolds was the half in that Dogs team, they are poorly coached and have zero go forward, worst forward depth in the comp, any halfback in the comp would struggle to make a impact. Honestly who would want to go there atm? surely Burton is behind the scenes with his management trying to get out of the contract he signed.

As for Barrett... suck shit, he had every expert in the game advising him not to take the job but like the up himself idiot he is he jumped into the first available job. I honestly don't think he can coach.

1-8 after 9 rounds surely you back your halfback, its not like there going to win 10 straight and make the finals, get him out there, tell him where he has to improve in private.. Barrett is a wanker.

First things first, Flanno sucks... but the way he was trotted out there was utterly disgraceful
If my son was coming through the ranks of the bulldogs, i'd be immediately looking at other options. I wouldnt want my kid playing for a team that treats its players like that
