Spurs may not have spent above £16 million-18 million on one player, but they have splurged the amount on several players in a short time span.

IIRC in the summer transfer window of 2008 Tottenham spent £17 million on Bentley, £16.5 million on Modric and £14 million on Pavlyuchenko.

Now I know hindsight's 20/20 but even two years ago, if I had the option of either spending £25 million on David Villa or spending £31 million on Bentley and Pavlyuchenko, I know which I would go for.

Didn't he play 25 EPL games in his first season with Spurs, and start in 20 of them?

no, 2 in the EPL, the rest in Spurs reserve grade

mind you he is playing very well atm while Lennon is injured but I nfi how that effects his price and any further payments

also there was a lot of criticism for not giving him more chances but it wasn't till the end of the season that the news leaked that Levy didn't want him to play as it saved him about 10 mill.

could be 25 in both divisions, sorry I have no explanation other than it was common knowledge amongst Spurs fan he only played 2 in the EPL in his first season
