Do you also think it's a pointless exercise to have those previously found guilty of a crime, exonerated/pardoned after they have died?

After all, it changes nothing but a persons reputation when they are dead. It's completely pointless, right?

Google the Gun Alley Murder for an example.

a case from 1921 ?? LOL
they'd just stop scraficing goats to appease the gods & hanging dark people because of the way they looked a few weeks before then
theres been many changes to legislation since the dark ages
You can't convict a dead person
you can accuse them of anything of course , but theres no trial or anything quite obviously because the accused can't answer or plea to any charges

the mental health court determines wether a charged person was of a sound mind when he committed the crime he is charged with
NOT
their state of mind at the time of being charged

2 reasons why this court will have nothing to do with the Langlands case
the above
and dementia is not a mental health issue.

I'm not asking about the DPP.

I'm asking you.

Do you think people who were sexually assaulted should never say anything if their attacker is dead or incapable to defend themselves because of health issues?

hang on
were sexually assaulted , or claim they were ?
these accusers can say what they like & do .. often.
I ask you is it fair ?
In savilles case it probably was because there were multiple complainents & it appears he more then likely did what he was accused of
But its a lot less unclear in this case

in any case the UK DPP didn't have t do anything in the Saville case , Im not even sure a statement was made by anyone
very different here

Ha right out of google. What a dope.

They also deal with cases where the accused is unfit for trial.

Yes that's lovely, but are you going to answer the question?

I said were, but the question can stand for claims as well.

I ask you, is being sexually assualted fair on the victim, if the attacker can get away with it?

It's just as clear. Essentially your point is, if a heap oif people come forward with complaints, then it is okay for the victims to speak up. Again, that is hugely unfair on the victims. You're assuming that a group of people are victims but one person could be full of shit.

What if a group of people full of shit made allegations. But one person was honest in theirs?

Your attitude and stance on this matter transcends absurd. It is disgraceful, ignorant, pathetic and aggressively stupid.

I think people criticizing the fact that victims of sexual assault/abuse don't come forward immediately are coming from a practical but completely unrealistic place. Not to mention needing a bit more practice with empathy.

And probably a long extensive lesson on what happens with childhood trauma (or any for that matter but especially childhood).

It's not criticism it's pointing out what needs to change to make things better. I'm saying it and I went through it.

Do they ?
now who's assuming pal ?
I reckon it's a pretty fair guess that you're not a Chief Justice, and you surely don't have the hundreds of years of legal experience that are packed into the DPP. You certainly can't produce a reasoned legal argument well supported by salient facts.
So yes, it's a small assumption but I'm on pretty safe ground.

How do you propose we change it? You understand some children will not want to testify against their perpetrator or even make statements?

I witnessed a violent accident at 11, it took 10 years to even be able to speak about it, I assume it's x1000 for victims of sexual abuse.
Like I said, it seems simple but it really isn't.
In any case we shouldn't be critical of people that come forward years later, stigma needs to change.

I definitely understand it and I agree it's not simple. As long as we give people a fair investigation/trial on both sides I'm pretty happy. The stigma that needs to change is this trial by the court of public opinion which is heavily in favour of guilty until proven innocent, by then your life is ruined anyway.

The candor with which this issue is being spoken about in this thread by victims is truly impressive. I can't imagine how hard it is to speak about such abhorrent experiences, but the more it is spoken about the less power perpetrators have.

The secrecy that shrouds this issue plays into the hands of these awful people, and hopefully, thanks to magnificent humans like you all, that shroud can be lifted, and other victims will understand that they are not alone, and that they should feel no shame in coming forward.

You all have my utmost respect.
