Bluudy amazing - really . A one match suspension ,which was suspended plus the compulsory $50k fine , of which 60% will be payed at season’s end .

What a weak knee-ed response from the powers to be of the NRL . Each of the 4 players - imo- should had been out for the 2020 season . That would had been sending the appropriate message and that would had been the correct response.

Re-read my post.

I believe i said the match ban was light.
I dont think it is light.
Put it in perspective. What would say you or me be pay in the same situation.
$1,000 from local law enforcement
These guys are humans...$50,000 and 1 week match ban from NRL is huge for what they did and suffice in the scheme of being part of NSW civilians
As I said other humans would get what?

Cmon Gazza...that is a huge fine in retrospect
I unsdesratnd they get extra from the NRL and why.....
But why for something light you want more and why treat them differently to the rest of scoiety because of their wage and profile the media give them
If a pollie got caught (as they have) recently apart from a bit of public ridicule what was their fine.

Yep, we are not getting far at all. On that we are in agreement.

I will though give you my opinion on the match bans. One month / 4 games at a minimum. In light of the warnings prior to this incident, the risk factor and damage to the game, i believe it to be appropriate. The game is bigger than 1 or 2 stars who feel its okay to dismiss government guidelines at such a delicate time for all.

If we are to rise above and not get bashed by media / public, then the game needs to sets higher standards.

We wont agree on this, and thats fine. However, expect the barrage of bad publicity to continue if these players dont wake up to themselves and that cant be good for the game or any Clayton's comp they want to re-instate as a result of poor management.
What damage to the game?. Really...cmon Tru dont over dramatise it to what it is not.
! If we stop talking about it. Everyone is over it by now
Clearly some here want to keep running with it..why?
They have paid a hefty price for stupidity..should be end of the matter..for Ltarell and Addo Carr
Now it is Clearly's turn?
They are not the only civilians charged with breaking social distancing protocol..by the way.
Plenty of people being charged so far

Are these idiots not potentially putting the whole comp at risk?? I know it sounds trivial but if they come down with it and unwittingly it spreads to team mates ( training to resume soon ) then whole teams are at risk. Isn’t that the major reason bosses are cracking it ??

No...because like anyone else they will be quarantined before they rejoin their team mates.
It has likely also cost them a week of training with their mates.
But the stupidity at the time and posting social media photos...well that is not surprising how dumb that was for.... anybody to do.

And face it what miniscule chance have they got of picking it up from last weekend anyway. More chance of picking up a gastro bug.

Owen has long term visions he will sign with Taree or Kempsey. Stay calm

Alot of these footballers have got such high opinions of themselves that they think they’re above the law. They’re also plain stupid. I heard a comment Andrew Johns made recently about how clubs should monitor/ban footballers from using/owning phones, and laughed it off as ridiculous, but really these guys are total morons. I do however agree with BLM01 that the NRL punishment is proportionate to their indiscretions. On top of hefty fines two of them will also face the courts, for firearm offences. I’d say there likely to be facing further hefty fines (plus legal fees) and a subsequent consequence for Latrell maybe the loss of his firearms licence and any firearms he owns. To rule them out for the season is over the top in my opinion

Does anyone think the nrl should stand them down immediately considering they have been charged with a firearms offence each before the courts???

It’s not really about the $ fine itself BLMO1 , but sending out a message to every NRL player that this shorten version of season 2020 can not be put in jeopardy by selfish actions of any one individual.

It will require one player , member of the training staff or anyone associated with the game itself to bring it tumbling down . That is the reason why I believed that there should had been a harsher penalty imposed upon those 4 players .

As to the ministers that were caught out , once again there should had been consequences for their actions , however that was up to the respective governments to decide .

This season is hanging by a thread and only that , for it to survive to the end all must follow the protocols set out for each club.

They put their respective teams at risk. The rest of the year could have been scrapped because of a few brain dead , self centered , inconsiderate idiots. I don't think they should be crucified but lets not underestimate the potential damage their actions could have caused to the NRL.

No. They will have their day in court.
How many people without a licence (like me or Addo-Carr) have fired a gun given to you by a licenced experienced? person (Mitchell) after being showed how to use it in the bush.
Problem is being well known in the public forum and / or posting photos.
Probably did not need to go that far.

just my opinion, and not making light of the situation, but Latrell will be in strife because he let JAC use the firearm. JAC is in trouble cos he fired the rifle w/o holding a licence. To my knowledge there’s no aggravating circumstances, such as using the firearm to commit other offences or endangering another persons life. Not playing it down but under those circumstances there will be consequences dished out by the courts will be severe and I think sufficient as the acts are illegal but more towards the foolish end rather than a malicious or evil act
