Would love to see Sandow get to the top list by years end, although i think it will be hard to judge him.
From what ive seen, it looks like the coach wants sutton to take control of plays! IMO from Sandows form this year, he would be running that team like a puppet master if i was coach....
Hopefully Kearney gives him the confidence next year to control the team like i think he could do...

Current premiership winning 5/8th and Blues player and Morts is playing in seconds with double LBAs in less games

I cant work it out either :sarcasm:

obviously there is more to footy then LBA. At the dragons (i'm guessing) he gives early ball and lets Cooper and Gas work their magic. He probably also has a lot more assists off his boot then mortz does.

In Origin II soward showed that he had the ability to attack the line and create points. A very good player and I wouldn't complain if he was in the blue and gold.

Soward has a GREAT kicking game; Mortimer has a DREADFUL kicking game.

Soward also has a very good running game, and can control the team and point them around the paddock. When they played us, Soward drove the team exactly where he wanted in golden point to get his shot at a FG.

But Soward has fairly poor vision and not a great ability to put a player in a gap (save for a draw and pass) and a fairly poor ability to lay on a try via the pass.
Bennett knows that, so he runs plays to get Soward 1 on 1 with a defender (so he can beat them with speed) or gets Soward to pass early to Boyd and let him put the player in the gap.
Boyd isn't fantastic at it either, but he's good enough to draw and pass off the back of a fast backline movement - works perfectly for the Dragons.

LBAs are a handy stat - players who have a lot of them are gifted 'ball players'. It's just that simple.

I'd rather see him at the top of the list at NEXT year's end.

He's up near the top of the comp for TAs (Thurston 20, Marshall 16, Soward & Wallace 13) so he's definitely got his place. His kicking game is awesome whoch makes him above average overall.

But he's far from an all-round player as evidenced by his poor LBA stats.

PouPou I think he does have a good running and passing game its just he doesn't over use it. These stats can be miss leading because of the type of game each team plays.

If you look at Thurston and Benji, they both attack from deep in their own halves and generally on the edges (more space because of bunched defense). Soward play very conservative in his own half (Bennetts coaching) and when he pushes wide he gives his outside backs early ball to get them one on one rather then attacking the line.

I think Soward is better then simply above average.

He's definitely got a good running game but like Kris Keating he doesn't have the confidence/guts/whatever to pass at the line.

As for passing behind the line, any idiot can do that.

Any idiot can pass but to have good vision, sum up the situation, make the right choices etc that take footy brains.

Just quietly; mortz struggle to pass before the line so what does that make him?

Do you think it`s possible that stats can sometimes be deceiving? Or that line-break assist stats taken in isolation mean f**k-all?

Interestingly, future Eels Sandow and Tonga have 5 each, while ex-Eel Mitchell picked one up on debut for the Chooks.
