Leaving a game before full-time?

When is it okay to leave one of your team's matches before FT?

With the passion that most Rugby League supporters show, during a disgraceful performance it is ok to leave before full time. It can be distressing to watch your team being annihilated, like watching a family member or friend being beaten up (not that you would leave when that happens, you just don't want to see that).

I haven't been to a hellova lot of games but I've never left early. I have walked out of the pub watching Souths getting pummelled 66-0 in 2006. Just couldn't watch it anymore.

The golden rule is never leave the stadium until your team are off the field and into the changing sheds. Anyone who leaves early is a disgrace and not a true fan, win or lose

I've never left a game early and I never would simply as a result of a poor team performance. My earlier post was probably a bit of a stretch, I would probably leave early for the sake of a sick child but generally, you're going to know if your child is sick before you go so it's a bit of a moot point really.

There was only one time when I really got annoyed at Roosters' fans for leaving early. It was round 26 2009, it was Craig Fitzgibbon's last game and if we won we would have avoided spoon, any way we were winning in the first half and then we let in 32 unanswered points. It was horrible, but I was disappointed to see people leave before full-time, in any other game I would not have cared as much, but it was Fitzy's last and he deserved better.

The mate who I went to the game with had only been in Aust for 2-years and that's how long he'd been a Roosters supporter for and leaving before Fitzy did his lap was something neither of us considered.

It's OK to leave when the hell you want, but personally I always stay to the end (same with concerts/movies/comedy gigs etc).

I'm not sure why you would need to leave early if you go to a Roosters game for example, got to avoid the rush of those other 6000 fans huh.

I'd hang around to watch that, even if I had somewhere else I had to be. Sounds like the LOLs were flowing freely that night.

The car park across from the stadium is terrible, not suitable to park even a dozen people TBH.

On the other hand, they're not you, which is a significant head start.

I've only left early once and that was vs Parra in 2009 where we lost 40 - 8. We actually left early so we didn't miss the train home but the scoreboard made it much easier to leave. Even then, that was with about 3 minutes to go, lol.

I have only left a game early once. It was the Tigers V Broncos game on Good Friday this year. I received a call from the security people for my house saying it had been broken into, I didnt leave straight away but it was on my mind, so as soon as the game was in a position that we couldnt win I left. I had one guy try and call me out as not supporting my team.

I wanted to leave during a Tigers V St George game in the early 2000's sometime. Tigers were getting smashed and it was pouring rain and horrible on the hill at Kogarah. I would have left but I had Jason Moodie in the 2nd leg of the doubles and he bombed 2 tries, so sat there in the rain to watch us lose 52-0

nothing better than being at a game and seeing opposition fans leaving early.

even better when it's their home game.

I don't leave early, mainly because I don't get to go to as many games as I would like.

I felt like leaving the Dragons v Bulldogs game at Homebush earlier this year.

That was puss.

I was actually pleased with the performance, just learnt my lesson from previous years.

Speaking of lessons, the one and only time I've left a game early (well...a game I actually paid for) was the game where Australia scored that sensational try in 2006. Game was practically over by half-time and the crowd was getting too rowdy in my section and my mates wanted to leave. Sure enough we miss the most newsworthy moment of the match.
