And also, hypothetically, lets say this offer gets taken. Next season, who are the big names off-contract at other clubs?

And I think it's fair to assume that some of the mercenaries (money hungry players and their overpaid managers) will be on the phone to Tinkler if this deal goes through just to let the big man know they are around.

I can see us being exactly the same as Souffs - and I hate them for trying to buy a premiership. But if we do it, it's ok

We've supplied enough players to the comp over the years, so in my mind it's ok.

Souff haven't. Probably the 2 best players they ever had were Churchill and Sattler, and they were from Newcastle. We could probably claim GI too if we wanted...

Sign Tahu for this year (3rd party deal) and Snowden for next year.

Tinkler might be keen of a few boys from Scone too - Tilse, Morris, Lowrie.

Wasn't Tilse the "Scapegoat"? Doubt he'll come back?

Shouldn't we also be going for more spectacular names Roops? The likes of 'Anyone playing Rugby League/Union in the world'.

Snowden - yes, Tilse - maybe, the rest can have a run in the country.

Player managers sure would be getting horny just thinking about the members vote in March. Some interesting times ahead one would think. It will be very interesting to see how the recruitment goes over the next few years. Who would be on everyone's shopping list after 2011??? I'd love to see a very good prop and a dummy half at the very least. Maybe another centre.

we wouldn't have a blue f**ks chance in hell of getting Tilse back, i wouldn't think. pass on Morris and Lowrie... maybe Morris as a depth hooker.

Tahu on peanuts i'd take. there's a quality footballer in there somewhere. i'd sell my mothers kidney to get Snowy back. it wouldn't surprise me if Tinkler tried to go for someone like SBW, and if SBW wanted to come our way i'd sh*t a thousand bricks. honourless dog, sure. can still be one of the players of his generation, though. one of those players that is just an absolute marvel to watch - a rare commodity. paying out the Dogs would be pocket change for Tinkler.

I reckon Snowy's a fair chance of returning
i agree, i'm actually quietly optimistic.

Bennett i would take if he wanted to come. honestly it's hard to say who would be on my shopping list player-wise without watching Likiliki, Henry and O'Donnell show us their wares.

Snowden is the only one i know i would definitely go after. maybe drop another 1 or 2 of our ordinary props and have a look at Tim Grant. i just think he might come a bit cheaper than Mannah, and i think Grant, Snowy and Mannah will all be amongst the next big props in the game. then again i think there's a possibility that John Mannah will be back at the eels in 2012, so Tim might not want to go anywhere. additionally you'd have to think that Grant is Penriths long term replacement for Petero up front.

honestly, i'd just be happy enough with Snowy at this stage. anything beyond that is really a bonus until we see what this years purchases provide us.

Tim Grant would be a decent pick up, can't see him leaving the Panthers though, although you never know if Elliott stays there...

Why would we have gone through all this pain to end up with passengers like John Morris and Todd Lowrie back? We hired Brian Smith to get rid of dead wood like these guys.

If that is what we end up doing we might as well still be broke. We need to aim higher than those nuffies.

Snowden yes though (feel free to take a shot at me JM). Tilse was no scapegoat though and deserves no spot back here.

TLL, Douglas, Snowden, Blair, Mannah, FPN, maybe B.Harrison...

If the deal goes through, its going to be such an amazing feeling to know pretty much noone is out of our league anymore. I am so excited for our future!

thinking about it more... i'm gonna put my money on Snowden being pretty much all we need in the forwards, and we might be able to shed a fringy or 2 anyway. i really expect KOD to take to first grade easily, he's physically ready (more than ready, he's a dead set beast) and i'm tipping that he's pretty close mentally too. i'm thinking something along the lines of:

8. Kade Snowden
9. Issac De Gois
10. Chris Houston
11. Kyle O'Donnell/Cory Paterson
12. Zeb Taia
13. Neville Costigan

14. Matt Hilder
15. Cory Paterson/Kyle O'Donnell
16. Richie Fa'aoso
17. who gives a f**k???

it's a sexy concept. one of Houston and Costigan will certainly be made into a prop. i think Costigan can provide us the most from Lock, but would be happy as sh*t to have him in the front row with Snowy, too.

we need Henry to be decent or better. if he is, i'm just gonna throw it out there that we could have a real crack at another trophy with a pack like this in front of a backline like ours. 6 months ago i wasn't sure i'd ever say anything like that again. the wheel turns.

I'm also excited for our future, just think of what the club could have achieved , if this type of deal had been on offer when Joey was in his prime?

A premiership in 2001?

Joey's proness to injury was the main thing stopping multiple premierships in 2000-2003. Plus I dont think the salary cap worked the same back then, didnt have the 3rd party deals and long serving player allowances like it does today.
