Lockyer OUT of test

He's playing out of position so reward the halves that are actually on form in their rightful position. Past rep performances are just that - in the past (Anasta for Australia was years ago and Prince was a while ago as well) so pick the team on form.

Why he is the best man for the job? Who else is there?

Anasta- chokes in rep games
Prince- not a 5/8, and again not great in rep games

The only other option would be to bring Hayne in, and put Inglis at 5/8, and one form I do not see how Hayne deserves it either. Fact is Bird is the best option, and until someone comes with a better option then I will believe that

Bird is simply NOT A FIVE-EIGHTH.

I wish teams would stop bastardising this position by filling it with second rowers and locks. It's pathetic.

We have minimal, proper, natural five-eights in our game and little wonder.

Prince being overlooked is a JOKE.

Locky you've lost it, bird's in good form in the forwards, prince is in good form in the halves, why play bird out of position and give the kiwis a better chance of winning?

Bird has played a fair portion at 5/8 for the Sharks this season and was just as good. Prince is in good form but at HALFBACK. I struggle to see why Thurston should move just so we have to fit Prince in. There is no 5/8 that deserves to be picked ahead of Bird, except perhaps Inglis, and then you have the problem over the winger- Hayne is out of form, and the only other option would be Brent Tate.

Which 5/8ths are in form..there are not that many. Anasta has been poor the past few weeks, so who else?

Anyone who think Bird should be ahead of Prince, im gonna say it are dead set stupid, seriously watch a game of league or atleast learn how to play it first. Prince should of been ahead of Lockyer in the first place.

Prince is NOT a 5/8..and to play him at half..Thurston will play a position he hasn't played in a few years..so you are damaging 2 positions not just ONE!

There aren't many five-eighths in the first place. Little wonder when players like Bird are picked in the position.

In the NRL only Marshall, Witt and Lockyer are proper five-eights. I'll give you Anasta as well, even though he's really just another lock. Where are the true five-eights, players capable of ball playing, rather than just another second-rower or lock?

Thurston has played plent of 5/8 and could slot back there easily.
He might have too come Origin time anyway to accomodate Prince. Lockyer may be too dicey.

Have a look at Prince at REP level..it aint good reading!

Watch Origin in 2004, Prince was one of Qld's best. And since 2004 Prince has gotten a lot better.

Laffranchi's omission is an absolute disgrace, though, he's deserved a rep jersey for years now, so it's no real surprise.

I am pissed off to the MAX.

Mick Crocker coming in to the squad is a joke.

Bird to 5/8 is even f**king worse.

Anthony Laffranchi into the squad Thurston to 5/8 Prince to half...... SIMPLE
(Even know Mullen made Prince his *****, Prince has been in good form)

I am sick of people getting picked on REPUTATION!

/RANT OVER!

Picking on Reputation is a joke. They did it in 2005, got absolutely destroyed by the kiwis. You'd think they'd learn. If they happen to lose this game, I hope they pick the World cup side on form. Not holding my breathe.

Bird has only played 1 game for the Sharks this season at 5/8.

It's a joke. Thaiday, Prince and Laffranchi have all been deadset ROBBED!

We all say Bird can only play 2nd row, lock etc.

We're missing an important fact.

The kid can play both, well. I still think Le Franky and Prince have been rorted.

Weird that Prince didn't get called up,however Prince to 5/8 and Thurston to remain halfback.
Why does Thurston have to accommodate his spot for someone that wouldn't have originally been in the team?
They have both played 5/8.

They have both played 5/8.

exactly. Prince was a 5/8th at the cows and went to the broncs to fill the 7 which is the position he's been since. pretty sure thurston came into 1st grade as a 5/8th as well.

Fact: Sticky coaches Bird
Fact: Sticky ahs previously coached Crocker and knows what he's like as a player
Fact (i think): Crocker is off contract at the end of the year :sarcasm:

as with all teams there will be debate but i dont know how players such as Kite and Webb who do SFA get picked ahead of players such as Laffranchi and Thaiday

Also I think it's a shame that Locky wont get to lead the team in this special game. After all he's done he deserved the opportunity to do so
