I don't have an issue with long hair in general (ala Hindmarsh) but when it prevents an effective tackle from being made by drooping down the shoulders, that's when something should be done cause it will lead to penalties.

Yes, this is a massive issue, it's happened once in the last couple of seasons from memory and will eventually cost someone a grand final.

Lots of tackles are made from pulling a player down from behind especially a fast back like Idris, so when tackling the shoulders are taken out of contention that effectively gives him a massive advantage.

Plus if he changes direction suddenly that hair could fly around and get in someones eye and give him a massive adavantage by temporarily blinding an opponent. it's a menace that needs to be stamped out.

Where is Gallop in all of this? MIA as usual.

Look Danish, that's all well and good, but if the referee yells "Release him" and the player does not, then they'll be penalised. Whether you think he should have had another second or two or not, the referee told him to let go and he didn't.

Referees not knowing the rules does not make it ok, especially when the rule in question was specifically highlighted prior to the season starting (they seem only too happy to enforce the others in that group, like being offside at kick offs, drop outs, scrum penalties etc etc)

I would have no trouble calling a grown man (like Idris) with pig tails a big girl face to face, no dramas.
I have never seen those fighters put their hair in pig tails and walk out to the Octagon for a fight.
My issue is the pig tails mate not the long hair.

Iam certain i have seen clays as well as fui fui's hair up in a
pony tail and if i remember correctly pig tails,
not in the cage though but definately outside of it

Long hair I couldnt give 2 $hits about...the pig tails just really are not necessary at all, which as stated is what my issue is...

Ive seen fui's hair in corn rows, same as Urijah Faber, corn rows...but if they went into pig tails...I would lose an enormous amount of respect and would happily call them girls along with Idris for doing so.

Pig tails belong in Girl Guides and tea parties, not on a rugby league field or the Octagon

You're missing the point.

The referee called "Release". JWH did not release.

Penalty was then the only option.

Some of them don't appear to have much use for its contents, but yes they do have a head.

Thread raises a good point. All players should have to shave their hair before every game.

I reckon it would be pretty funny if a whole team ran out with their heads shaved, or with identical headgear.
