This better just be a ploy by Wenger, because he looks like an idiot the way he keeps contradicting himself.

If the above bolded does happen (not saying it will), will you still be defending Wenger, CC Eagle?

My prediction, Arsenal will finish 6-8th, if Nasri and Cesc are sold and there are no replacements and Wenger will get the sack.

I really hope Wenger is lying. With Cesc gone and apparently Nasri as well, surely the club must have around 40-50 million Euros to spend. They should feasibly be able to buy two very good replacements with that money, plus whatever other money they have sitting around can be used to buy a centre-back. If Arsenal don't sign anyone, I think regardless of esults Wenger will be gone at season's end.

I haven't been defending Wenger. Quite simply, I don't think he needs defending at this stage. My arguments have only been for smart transfers and a sustainable business model. Something which all fans should be supporting.

Highly, highly disappointing to read that. Not surprising, but definitely not something I enjoyed reading.

His iron approach to transfers has really started to alienate the fan-base. Even the most ardent Wenger supporters are starting to question the clubs activity in the transfer market.

My question though is how much of this is Wengers "fault", and how much is it the boards? For all we know, the board might be content with our squad and against spending 20m+ on players.

Well members of the board come out and state periodically theres X amount of cash to be spent if Wenger chooses to.

Like this transfer window, when Gazidis came out and said Arsenal have a "substanial" transfer budget, that Arsene could use to buy a "world class player" if he wishes.

Well that hasnt happened, not to mention this was before Cesc and Nasri's expected departires. So basically thats another 60mil, plus an already substantial transfer budget. What have we got? A few youngsters and Gervinho.

I've never once seen Wenger state theres financial restraints or a lack of money for transfers.

Why do City want Nasri?

Are they on a mission to buy up the entire planet's supply of attacking players?

What a joke.

Imagine Wenger and Tevez trying to negotiate on wages

In regards to Wenger, I do admire the way he runs things and his financial prudence. Being a non-Arsenal fan obviously helps since I don't particularly care if Arsenal win trophies or not and I can just observe his approach without any emotional investment. I can see why Arsenal fans would be getting fed up with him though.

Positives - Vermaelen back and is still a beast, looks like he may bring the best out of Koscielny. Gervinho looked great, until the red card. Look forward to seeing him get some quality ball.

Negatives - Serve lack of creativity. Rosicky wasnt good enough last year and wont be this year. The lack of depth in the squad is really concerning imo.
