I'd be happy with any of the above. Although I really can't see Goetze leaving Dortmund right now. I'd love to be wrong though.

Could it be that this Tevez business is what's holding up the Nasri deal? Who knows. Total media bullsh*t.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryo came off the bench tonight - we're stretched for depth on the flanks. He's a better option that AOC anyway.

Alex is pretty good man, hes not afraid to run at the defenders and beat his man, my old man is a Saints supporter so i got to see him play a fair few times last season.

And id hope with Tevez its true, gives us 2 world class strikers

Boo'd off the field in the first home game of the season and deservedly so. Wenger needs to wake up and revitalise this squad or hand in his resignation.

Thoughts on the game.

- Vermaelen is a monster, easily one of the best CB's in the league, without him today Arsenal lose by 4.

- Woj was great bewteen the sticks. Glad goal keeper isnt a position that Arsenal need to be worried about.

- Frimpong was huge, but lack of discipline and maturity really let him down. Getting the yellow in the opening few minutes and then for the horrible tackle on Lucas is almost unfrogiveable. He cost Arsenal any chance of getting a result from the game and has weakened the team even more for the coming fixtures.

- Ramsey had another poor showing, Im not sure whether its the injury still plaguing him mentally or phyiscally. Maybe he shouldve had a loan spell away when he came back from injury who knows. Maybe he was simply overrated by fans. Whatever it is, having to play him week in and week out isnt good for Arsenal.

- Lastly a fantastic performance from Nasri. Really give him credit for giving his all. Showed what class Arsenal need to have in the squad.

unlucky today lads, while i thought we got the better of the game for most parts, our first goal was just ridiculously unlucky. definitly wasn't a "boo off the pitch" type effort.

Could be a long, long season. Wenger didn't even do a post-match interview. I can't remember the last time that happened? I get the feeling that if there isn't some major activity on the transfer market in the next three or four days, the fans will riot.

Thoughts on game

* As said TV4 is a brick wall, get a WC CB with him NOW!!!!
* *The Pong* Was great on debut but made 3 mistakes and it lost him 3 weeks and the team 3 points
* Nasri MUST STAY!!!!!, Give the bloke $125.000 along with RVP use Fabregas money for it

we Need another CM, maybe with Jack coming back we will be fine but ramsey is a bit slow atm and ^ he went to cardiff for a 6month loan for his come back

Things that need to happen this week

* Gary Cahill
* Joao Moutinho/Eden Hazard/Gourcuff/Mata/Alcantara/KaKa/Diego
* A WC Striker to partner RVP

With Fabregas gone lets go back to 442 or 4321 cause we dont have the players for 433 anymore

I'd make Vermaelan captain TBH. Can't think of a better person to lead the club.

And by God we need to buy. It terrifies me to think we are an injury or two away from a disaster season. And knowing our squad we are good for a few. I think with the money we have received from the Fab/Clichy sale, as well as the likely Nasri/Bendtner sale, plus the Adebayor money which we haven't touched, we should go after:

A good left back - Baines frequently gets mentioned on people's wishlists, but I think because he is English and plays for a relatively small club his asking price is going to be way too much. And quite frankly his asking price doesn't reflect his quality. I'd be really happy if we chased Sakho. I know he plays CB, but he is a very capable LB, is young and I think he can turn into a world-class left back with the right guidance. He's ready for the step up in class too. He'll be pricey, but I think LB's are expensive anyway because they are so hard to find. Gibbs is too injury prone, while Traore isn't ready.

A CB to partner Vermaelan. The sad thing is people know how desperate we are so again we have to pay more than required. If we got Sakho, I'd say Cahill would be out of our price range. Mertesacker would be a great pickup. We should have chased Kjaer I thought - it would seem Roma has picked him up for a bargain price of €10m, which is such a good deal for a player of his quality.

A strong midfielder. I quite like Scott Parker - partly because he is English, partly because he will be cheap, and mostly because he can handle the rough stuff. De Rossi would be awesome but that's only a pipedream. Parker should push Song to improve, while also being a handy acquisition in his own right.

Finally, I think we need to get some creativity back into the side to replace what we lost when Fab left. I'd love for us to go after Mario Götze. He'll come at a cost, but it will be hard to chase on four fronts, let alone one, when we are thin on the ground.

Sakho (€15-20m)
Mertesacker (€8m)
Parker (€8m)
Götze (€25m)

I think it is very doable, and it solves a lot of our problems. We will be a lot more defensively minded, but that will change once Götze, Wilshere, Miyaichi and co fully develop and start forming partnerships.

So hopefully the side can look like
............Szczesny............

Sagna...Mertesacker...TV...Sakho

.........Parker.......Song........

Walcott....Gotze....Wilshere

....Gervinho....RVP.....

I think Mertesacker and Parker bring plenty of experience which is something we desperately need. Götze can be our next Fab or Nasri, while Sakho is one of the most gifted defenders around. Love his workrate and defensive capabilities. I think they are good choices anyway.....

Swap around Gervinho and Walcott and boot PArker to the bench and you end up with a great team

After giving myself a night to sleep on it, my thoughts on last nights game :

* Eight players out injured and yet another second half with a man down. Until Frimpong's sending off, I thought we played well. Maybe not well enough to deserve a win, but definitely enough to draw. Including transfers, these are the players who weren't available : Fabregas, Clichy, Eboue, Denilson, Vela, Diaby, Wilshere, Rosicky, Gibbs, Traore, Djourou, Song and Gervinho.

* Frimpong was one of the best on pitch. Played with energy, enthusiasm. Got forward when need be and was quick to track back when required. A very refreshing performance - Song should be weary.

* A CB signing is a must with Koscielny not looking good. I haven't come across any detailed information on his injury yet, but considering the poor lad could barely walk I can't see him playing against Udinese or Man U this week. Suddenly the "great pairing" has been broken - no surprises there.

* Miquel did well. Unfortunately his lack of fitness was evident at the end, but positionally, I thought he did well.

* Vermaelen is a beast. Easily one of the top three CB's in the league. 35m, 6'+ man Carroll was dominated by a 5'11 Verminator. Without him, it could have been three or four nil. Personally, I'd prefer him as captain over RvP.

* I felt sorry for RvP. He had zero distribution, and was left to work hard for every single ball. Unfortunately, Ramsey was the main culprit. A below average game from Aaron. His passing was inaccurate, his ball control was sloppy and too often he lost possession.

* Jenkinson was solid. The poor lad shouldn't be playing in such a high profile fixture, but he handled it well. He was pacey, energetic and marked his man well. Physically though, he needs to bulk up. But twelve months training with a top team should fix that.

Unless there's some improvement in the casualty ward or signing department, trying to name a side to face United on the weekend is terrifying. We could see something like :

Chezzy

Jenkinson - Squillaci-Vermaelen- Sagna.

Lansbury

Rosicky-Ramsey

Arshavin -RvP - Walcott

Take out Vermaelen, Sagna and RvP, and that's basically a reserve side.

Oh and I'd be worried if I was a Liverpool supporter. They were fortunate enough to beat the most garbage Arsenal side in years, with a man down and two offside goals.

Arsenal will sign players, reports that CB Scott Dann will sign within 24 hours (Doubt it) but that would be a start

Then a Attacking/Creative Mid and a LB

You realise thats 12 players
LOL! It was late! :o:lol:

Swap around Gervinho and Walcott and boot PArker to the bench and you end up with a great team
I'd keep Parker and shift Walcott to the bench. While Walcott is just a bit.... he runs quick I suppose. I'd change the formation to:

So hopefully the side can look like
............Szczesny............

Sagna...Mertesacker...TV...Sakho

.........Parker.......Song........

Gervinho....Gotze....Wilshere

....RVP.....

Use Gervinho as a support striker to RVP. I'm nearly tempted to swap Gervinho and Gotze too. Not sure about that.

Scott Dann?

*sigh*

A better option than Miquel, but I really hope that one doesn't eventuate.

The Mirror has linked us with Rennes midfielder M'Vila. An absolute unit and a full French international as well.

I'm sick of speculation.

We just need to get on with it. I'm sick of speculation and it is clear to pretty much everyone that this Arsenal squad is the weakest it has being in quite some time.
