Exactly, we don't pay big wages so we will never get the big stars.

I seriously am in disbelief at what I just watched, I don't even know where to start

What happened (took my eyes off the game for minute)?

I was very impressed by the Arsenal fans. The way they stood up and applauded their team at the end was good form.

Can't agree more.

They're far better supporters than me. I barely moved or blinked after United's fourth.

Normally I'd laugh at such a rout, but I am feeling for Wenger.

Sure a part of it is his doing, but it's sad to see what his Arsenal tenure is turning into. Hopefully things pick up.

You have the money, but from what I can tell, it's the wages that are an issue. It's hard to acquire top talent if you aren't willing to pay premium wages, which Arsenal have shown that they're not.
That's part of the stubbornness that everyone in our club who is in a position of power has, a self imposed salary cap does not work. It hasn't worked for 7 years. I'm not saying we have to spend to the same degree as City and Chelsea, but the difference between a 100k a week wage and 200k is just 5 million a year. Spending an extra 5 million to bring in top class players is worth it.

We should at the very least be getting Hazard and Cahill. Hopefully along with them is at least one 150-200k a week player like Kaka, Sneijder or someone else.

The salary cap excuse is not good enough anymore because we have the money.

Tbf it wouldn't just end there. You start paying one player 200k and soon more of the squad are going to be asking for massive wages as well. So that extra 5 million would end up being alot more.

Strangely enough, me too.

It's not Wenger's fault that Gervinho, Song and Frimpong are suspended. Or that Vermaelen, Diaby, Sagna, Gibbs and Wilshere are injured.

As I said earlier, he has 72 hours to save the season, his job and his reputation.

And you know how much we've wasted on mediocre players? So many of our junk players are on between 50 and 70k. If we stopped overpaying mediocre players and paid stars properly then we wouldn't have this problem.

I no longer care about the 'principles, ' philosophy' or being a model of sustainability.

I care about not losing 8-2, winning two out of the past thirteen league games and receiving more red cards than scoring goals.

Apparently the after the players had walked into the tunnel, RvP made them come back out and thank the travelling fans.

At least someone gives a toss.

Oh god. There is no worse feeling as an Arsenal supporter than sensing Sir Alex Ferguson's pity...I both hate and respect that man so much, and him pitying us is like a punch in the face.

Agree with that and the club should give those fans their money back.

I'm not sure if it's the junk players, but more so high wages on the young players. I can't remember where I read it (might have even been from someone on this forum) but Arsenal supposedly pay relatively high wages to young players, higher than what most clubs do. I'll see if I can find where I read that.

Edit. Ah yeah it was from this thread http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/showthread.php?t=383328&highlight=wages

Yes I've read that too, we find kids with some talent and overpay to ensure we get them, if they come good it works out but for every Wilshere there is 5 Bendtner's, so we have so many duds on good money instead of being more conservative with the young talent and spending more on the proven stars like normal clubs.

Surely this has to be Wenger's last season for the club short of him winning the EPL? It has just become the same old methods and excuses which haven't worked for what is fast heading towards a decade.

Fairly sure he got MOTM? Could easily be wrong though.;-)

Great ball from Rosicky to Robin - countered by a great save again from De Gea.

Our 20-22 year olds are our first teamers - Ramsey, Wilshere, Woj, Walcott and the like. That's the difference.

As per the above, two of United's goals were unstoppable. Throw in Robin's penalty and its 2-1.

And that prove the point I was trying to make i.e. how over-rated & over-hyped our much vaunted talent identification network is. United reserve players made our first teamers of the same age look Championship class. You cant deny too that alot of the youth that made up the reserve team of the past few years such as Merida, Barazite, Vela, Denilson etc just havent kicked on or not been given enough chances and this has really hurt our depth. And please Arsen send Arsharvin back to Russia with not too much love, theres just no passion there. I do feel sorry for the likes of Coquelin (who I thougt was admirable), AOC & Jenkinson (thought I dont think he'll be good ) that they have to step up into a poorly structred squad.

we will rebuild and its the loss that will amke the team buy and change, but its going to be hard to get World Class players to come after that loss,
