3-0. I forgot what convincing league wins felt like. Van Persie was brilliant, great goal from Song. Walcott looks to be in form. And our back 4 looked the most solid they've looked all season.

The big concern is obviously Walcott pulling up in the final minutes. Worst case scenario: hammy or some other kind of tear. Best case: just a cramp.

Young Chamberlain might be getting his first taste of Champions League soon.

Agree with all of this. Man we have some injury prone players....

I was more relieved than anything. The smile on Arsene's face said it all.

I also thought that Arteta played well. His pass to Gervinho, who should have scored, was superb. You're right about the back four as well. FINALLY they were moving up as a single unit, rather than the scrappy bullsh*t we saw last week.

Kos played well, completely shut down Davies after he came on - was he even on the field?

It's all about Song imo, hes back to the form which saw him be the premier holding mid in the league imo. Box to box, breaking everything up in the midfield and you know hes back to his best when hes chiming in in front of goal.

True that.

Interestingly, he rotated with Arteta in the holding role. Which was good to see because as you said, his talents aren't restricted to merely sitting infront of the backline spraying passes left and right.

The touch and finish for his goal, wow.

I just hope he keeps it up.

Kos seemed really out sized and classed in the set piece situation in the first half. We need Vermaelen back. He may be undersized as well but he attacks the ball hard.

Agreed.

I like Kos, but he wasn't bought with the intention of being a starting CB. You've gotta remember that three seasons ago he was playing in Ligue 2. He reads the game well and is tenacious in defense. Both attacking the ball and the player. Give him another 12-18 months and I think he'll be a quality defender.

I read on Vermaelen's Twitter that he'll be back training in four weeks. So we can expect him back in early November I'm guessing.

4 points from our first 2 CL games, given our start to the season is a massive success. We're a very good chance of winning the group, and as a result being in the box seat to get through to the last 8.

Alex Chamberlain is going to be very very very special.

Agreed and agreed.

Marseille did us a favour by thumping Dortmund, who after two games only have one point and will find it tough to finish above us, given recent form of course.

They still have to play : Arsenal & Olympiakos away. The latter is a completely different side when playing at home, so it should be interesting to see how Dortmund go.

How about Ox's touch and finish?! Sensational. Theo has suddenly become nervous as in AOC's two games this season (granted they were against lesser opposition), he's been the best player on the field. Can't say the same for Theo.

Either way it's good to have AOC in Theo's rear view mirror. Those two competing for a first 11 spot should help both improve, and it's a nice feeling to have competition for spots and depth in this position given our lack of depth in other positions. And it also makes Theo expendable if he's not willing to sign a reasonable contract when the time comes.

And also, how good is Szczesny. After the awful time we've had with Almunia and Fabianski in recent seasons it's good to have a keeper who has now put a long string of virtually mistake free performances (even when 8 went past him against United, it was hard to fault him for any of those) and also routinely comes up with incredible saves that just a handful of keepers on the planet would make.

Earlier in the season I said he was one of the top 3 keepers in the league (along with Cech and Hart) if he plays the whole season the way he has to date, I could see him making the Team of the Year.

True that. There's competition for nearly every position on the field except for - GK, RB, ST and CB.

Was disappointed to not see Park get a run last night. I hope we see him sometime soon. Song did well playing in defense I thought. Was never really caught out of position, was strong on the ball and his passing was direct and crisp.

Ramsey was disappointing, again. I have no idea what's going wrong with him, but he has looked off the pace all season.

The Szcz > De Gea.

We are lacking depth at Striker which is frustrating. With the talent we have in Arshavin and Chamakh behind RVP should make it one of our deepest areas. If either of those played at their best we'd be able to rotate RVP in and out during the busy parts of the season without concern. But both seem to be lacking confidence. Arshavin made some good runs today but let himself down with his finishing. And Chamakh has shown glimpses but is yet to put together 90 minutes of what he's capable of.

Except GK, RB, ST, CB? Isn't that nearly have the team? ;-)

Park will need time to get up to speed. He is coming from a not very good French team to one of the most high pressured jobs a footballer can have. Not only playing in a team that nearly every game is must win, but everybody is waiting for you to fail. You don't want to drop someone in like that, into unfamiliar surroundings. Maybe in the later games when your through.

Ramsey is looking a bit lost at the moment. Maybe he looked better when he was surrounded by better players? Or maybe without Cesc, Wilshire etc. he is being asked to do to much, and as the focus of your attacks he is getting extra attention. When he played for Wales he wasn't as good for that reason.

He needs to learn how to cope with that attention. If he can, he will be a very good player, if he can't, he will be a support type player. Time will tell.

True.

Once everyone's fit (if ever) there'll be competition for the second CB spot. Per is an almost guaranteed starter, but I have visions of quick countering destroying him..

I agree about Park though. But, what about poor Jenkinson? Charlton to starting against United at Old Trafford in a few months?!

My thoughts exactly about Ramsey. Obviously Arteta isn't as dominant as Fabregas, so it's left Aaron having to do more than just simple passes and chase. Although unless someone is signed in January, Aaron is 'stuck' there until February when Jack returns.

Vermaelen is expected to be back after the next international window though, so there's some good news.

You need him. Ver and Per :)lol: sorry) would be a good partnership but as you say, i would worry about Pers pace. Oh well, thats what you partner is for!

Not sure what Arsene was thinking with Jenkinson. He could of destroyed the poor kids career. Hopefully for him he can put it down to one of those days. Maybe Arsene learnt the lesson so is being a bit more cautious about Park?
Theo was put in a bit soon and hopefully he hasn't done the same with Chamberlain.

The Ramsey situation i think shows where Wenger has gone wrong. In other clubs the youngsters are put in slowly, in less pressured situations. Youth is all well and good, but sometimes you need an older head to help out and take control.
For example, I never saw the need to get rid of Gilberto Silva. He would be perfect for you now. Low money, not desperate for games, but can come on and add some experience when you need it.

Its not all doom and gloom for you. Once you get players back you are good enough for 4th. Which after the last few years isn't great I know, but as fans, we take what we can.

Kickoff starts in 3 hours, I'm staying up for it. Going without sleep to see us smash little brother, get within touch of the top 4 and silence the doubters, something like 5-0. Or an ugly 4-3 win...anything to make me think when I hop into bed after 4am, that it was worth it.
