5 goals in our last 2 away games for a return of 0 points. Disgraceful. In those games we conceded 12. Would have been 20 if it wasn't for Szc~.

A front 6 that can be potenially elite. A goal keeper that can be potentially elite. And in between a shithouse back 4 that isn't worthy of a top half team, let alone top 4. The blame goes to Wenger, he could have had all 3 of Cahill, Jones and Baines. He passed on them.

Cahill, Jones, Baines, Chiellini, Pique, Puyol wouldn't have made a difference tbh.

Santos looked good though - the lad can cross.

Santos looked good in attack. His defense led to playing someone onside for a goal, and he was probably the reason for the linesman thinking that Yakubu was onside for his second. Not to mention he played them onside another two times that were saved by Szcez.

Santos is hopeless in defense, he should be playing on the wing, not at LB.

A back 4 of Baines, Cahill, Jones, Sagna (allowing for an injured Vermaelen) could have been playing today for us, we could have afforded Jones in January and the other two over the summer, but Wenger was a stubborn fool and we have what we have. Baines-Cahill-Jones-Sagna is a back 4 fit for a top 4 team. And with the ability we have in attack, it could have made us a contender. But instead, due to Wenger's stubborness we have players bought on discount that noone else wanted.

Blackburn accepted our bid for Jones, but he preferred United.

Can't blame him really.

10m for Mertesacker and 6.2 for Santos. Hardly 'bargain buys'. Kolo Toure for 350K was a 'bargain buy'.

long way to go yet guys, although Arse trying to take positives out of this game in an interview seemed an exercise in futility

We offered 8m for Jones in January. They wanted 10m. Wenger refused.

At the end of the season Fergie buys him for 16m. And even at 16m he looks like being great value, is already ahead of Ferdinand and will play for England for 10 years. We could have had him for 8 million...in January, which is less than what we paid for Mertesacker. Per is a decent buy but he's nowhere near as good as Jones.

We could have had a Cahill-Jones CB pairing for a little north of 20 million. We wouldn't have conceded 12 goals against United and Blackburn if we bought those two. We'd have close to the best CB duo in the comp.

That also reminds me of Joe Hart. Although it's been made less painful with the rise of Szc~, a couple years ago we had the chance to buy Hart for very cheap. Wenger thought he wasn't Premier league standard.

Now he's the best keeper in the premier league and will be the #1 for England for 15 years.

People whinge about us not being able to compete financially with Chelsea, City and United. Well that's bullshit, there are good cheap buys on offer every window. And not diamond in the rough types, but 100% no doubt buys, and for every great bargain buy Wenger has pulled off, he's missed on two out of sheer stubborness.

I never knew that the details of private player negotiations were made this public?

Coulda,woulda,shoulda..

There's zero point discussing who we 'could' or 'should' have had. It's meaningless. I suggest re-watching the game with your bias aside. Maybe the facts will come more obvious :

* Two conceded O.G's - when was the last time that happened to any team, let alone Arsenal? Incredibly unlucky.

* A blatantly offside goal stood.

* On any other day, we would have scored at least five - there were some very, very good chances. Compared to last year, when the squad would merely dominate possession. RvP, Chamakh and Per should have all scored.

On paper, it looks terrible. And overall that's exactly what the result is, terrible - those are the exact words of Arsene Wenger as well. But if you watch the actual game, there are enough positives there to stop the sky from falling.

I didn't understand Djourou at RB though? Yes, he has pace. But as we saw his crossing is non existent and is unfamiliar with the position. I would have thought Gibbs or Santos on the right would have been a more likely option.

Chelsea and Liverpool to put it simply...aren't that good. Even with our horror start 3rd is certainly not beyond us if we win games we should, stop getting red cards all over the place and stop letting in hopelessly easy goals.

Getting own goals doesn't help.

Since the first game against Liverpool, I've maintained the point that Liverpool haven't been all that great. And that given the huge investment, their fans should be more concerned than any Arsenal fan.

A loss to Stoke, followed by a Spurs spanking and no notable injuries. Suddenly Arsenal aren't so terrible.

Torres' miss, wow

Other than the fact we had to come from behind, good Carling cup game against Shrewsbury. Chamberlain is the real deal. If he keeps going the way he's going he'll be putting pressure on Walcott for a first 11 spot.

The most frustrating aspect of the Shrewsbury game was that it wasn't televised, anywhere. Even the Arsenal Player for Arsenal members didn't show the game until 10PM UK time.

Ridiculous.
