No surprises here guys.

I said it after we got thumped by Milan... our season is over. We need to get top 4 if there is any chance to keep RVP. So many players lack the fight and backbone you need to make up a champion team.

I didn't catch the game because I don't have sentanta. What was the overall performance like. I know the 2nd goal went in off Ox. Thats about it.

f**k me. Positives: Miyaichi looks like the real deal. IMO he's already way ahead of Park. Pity he won't play for us until next season. And the fact that we now get to focus on 1 competition while other teams spread themselves out.

Negatives: Another season without a trophy.

Hopefully we can now turn all our focus to the top 4. Finishing in 4th and ahead of Chelsea would make it all worthwhile.

Over it. F*cking over it.

I refuse to lose any more much needed sleep because of this football team. I am genuinely fearful for the Sp*rs game this Saturday/Sunday. The only positive is that we'll be paying $4+ for the win.

It's not Wengers fault that :

* Our players are made of a strange substance, somewhere between paper and glass. And ;

* The pitch at Duffy's Oval Terrigal is ten times better than The Stadium of Light.

However, this is the first time I have been genuinely fearful for Arsene.

lol

I assume RVP has a get out clause in his contract if you dont finish in the top 4 ?

Nah probably not. He would've signed it years ago when we still had a pretty strong team. It's obviously not out of the realms of possibility that he does one but i'd be surprised if there was one.

It won't matter anyway. All he has to say is he wants to leave and Barca, Real or City will make a move for him. Everyone knows we will sell him if we get a decent offer.

Rumor is the club is making plans to move Wenger to the boardroom and get Guardiola.

If it happens, that would be AWESOME. Guardiola plays Football the right way, and more than anything he has ambition.

But noone should be foolish enough to get their hopes up until it happens, if it happens.

Too good to be true. Although I do like the idea of Wenger being involved in a behind the scenes or non-managerial role. Be it in six months, twelve months or two years.

After spending a day stewing on the result, some points worth noting :

* The game was the third game within seven days. Including a hard fought win at Sunderland and a brutal mid-week European cup game.

* We were playing well until Coquelin was brought down by the b*stard Stadium of Light pitch. Enter Squillaci and goodbye team confidence.

* Our backline was - Coquelin/ Vermaelen - Squllaci/Song - Djourou and Sagna. The CB pairing alone is the weakest possible in the squad.

* Sunderland's first goal was a lucky deflection, which was their first shot on target.

Rumour that Chelsea want to swap Sturridge for Walcott.

If that's true no wonder Chelsea is f**ked and AVB has no clue. I would do the swap in a heartbeat. Sturridge is the perfect (attainable) player to play alongside RVP.

If our front 3 went from Gervinho-RVP-Walcott to AOC-RVP-Sturridge I'd be over the moon.

Sturridge is perfect, he's fast which we need from our wingers but unlike Walcott he can actually finish well. We'd have 3 genuine goal threats in AOC/RVP/Sturridge unlike now.

This would be ideal if it comes true.

He wants to leave as he does not want to play on the wing so would not be happy to play the Theo role.

Not sure what your all getting so beat up about. Arsenal are plenty good enough to make the top 4.
Also you are playing Spurs and they are favorites. Thats prime time for Spurs to bottle it completely.
I worry about your defence though. I'd play two holding midfielders and play on the counter attack.

If we got him I wouldn't see him as a pure winger, Walcott style. I just suggested he was fast enough to be a winger on paper. In reality I'd picture him coming inside regularly and being set up by RVP. That would allow RVP to play in a Rooney style Second Striker role rather than an out and out front man.

IF we were to get him we'd be 4-3-3 on paper but 4-3-1-2 in reality with AOC and Sturridge infront of RVP. That attacking trio would be a lot more balanced than what we have now where we rarely win a game when RVP doesn't score.

maybe, but how would AOC play upfront? There is a world of difference between playing upfront and playing on the wing and coming in.

Theo is a better player when playing in the role you want for Sturridge but he doesn't do that now. So i cannot see Wenger changing his tactics for Sturridge who would be seen as a like for like replacement.

You would be better finding players who can play your system, not trying to change the system for the sake of a player.

IF, big if, we were going to get Sturridge, or any other striker, and switch to a 4312 i would want AOC in the hole behind RvP and Sturridge. That's Chamberlain's favoured position and it would mean he gets on the ball a lot more as apposed to being neglected out on the wing.

As it stands i can't see us either going after Sturridge or changing our formation. Wenger loves the 4231 which seems to be the flavour of the month in terms of set ups. I can't stand it and too often RvP is isolated up front. It doesn't work with us because our midfield 3 (Song, Arteta and Ramsey) lack any sort of penetration or creativity so that usually falls at the feet of our wingers.

Don't see why any Arsenal fans should be worried overly.
It's at the Emirates and Spurs are known to concede soft goals.

But then again.....Arsenal's worst enemy in recent derbies is likely to be fit.
