Luke Lewis asking the Panthers for a release! Wow!

Since Gus has said Lewis can't handle being at a struggling club...

He didn't say that. There was an implication that Lewis doesn't want to deal with rebuilding a club at this stage in his career. Not the same comment by any stretch of the imagination.

"Luke probably doesn't want to go through the pain of helping to rebuild a club" - Gus

The official twitter is just pr cherry picking quotes trying to take the heat off club. The press conference was as amiable as it could have been.

Robson may end up heading to England for a year or two to top up his retirement fund.

Just listened to Gould's statement via the link. I agree can't see where in his Statement Gould was disrespectful to Luke or his legacy
Read the list of quotes I posted. Just about every one of those is a dig at him.

Saying they wanted him and he's running off on them while they're struggling because he doesn't want to be at a rebuilding club.

Good riddance to a sook, who for the past 2 years has done nothing but destabilise the club. When Elliott was fired Lewis went straight to the papers and cried about his deadbeat mate. When Lewis didn’t get his own way with Georgegallis overlooked for the top job, he demanded a release behind the scenes and sooked to the papers.
This year he was relieved of the captaincy for the origin period and instead of taking it like a man, he whined about it and was demanding a release to his origin mates.Penrith will be better off to have this sook elsewhere.

Have a listen to the press feeds linked earlier. Form all I have heard, it is Luke's decision only. From what I can hear, there is no 'conspiracy' in this. I am sure that you keyboard warriors will continue to fuel the flames at both the club and at Gus

What other club did that to their captain during the origin period?

Could you imagine Melbourne doing that to Smith? Or Cronulla to Gallen? Or Broncos to Thaiday? etc.

Listen to the interview f**ktard. It is about context, nuance and tone.

On second thought don't. Your opinion is worthless no matter what

Lewis was clearly not happy, he went to Gus earlier in the year talking about retirement, something Gus talked him out of.

If Penrith wanted him gone, retirement would have been better than letting him go to another club and as has been said he doesn't really help with the salary cap issues. There's no conspiracy, Penrith are what they are at this moment and at this moment Lewis doesn't want to be there.

Also all the rumours point to the same thing, Lewis wanted out, not that Penrith wanted to push him out.

1. If any of what you said is true, why would anyone give him the captaincy in the first place.
2. Noone else had the captaincy taken off him for origin. It was a humiliation of the highest order.

I feel gutted for Panthers fans.

Luke Lewis in another teams jersey just won't seem right, even as a Knights fan.

Because it would make sense for Gould to come out and say 'we don't want him at the club anymore'... The only person making conspiracy accusations is you claiming Lewis couldn't handle not having power anymore.

The fact is that Lewis has given blood, sweat, and tears for that club and the fact that he is leaving says a lot about what is happening at the club. Not about Lewis.

The idea was right but poorly handled by the club and massively milked by the media. Luke's comments behind the scenes against the club during the origin were poor.
