Cleary had 2 years running of u20 talent to choice plus great signings. Who did elliott get as a signing. With the talent available at the warriors there should have been more grand final appearances
And Elliot had a plethora of promising juniors to develop and developed exactly f**k all.
Cleary put in structures at the Warriors to have the under 20's and then developed them to perfection ready for first grade when they first came in.
If it wasn't for his guidance those guys wouldn't have progressed anywhere.
What great signings? Lilyman was noone when he signed there, neither was Luck. Both flourished under him. Steve Price?...yeah maybe...Brent Tate was always injured...Maloney was a reserve grader at the Storm and Seymour was a reserve grader at the Sharks.
I'm curius as to who were these great signings that were made? Or are you just looking at the result...and saying that they are great signings.
We've already seen this year the change in our junior structure has reaped rewards. In 1-2 years these under 20's guys will be ready to contribute on a regular basis LIKE he did at the Warriors.
People seriously don't remember that for the prior two years the only young guy to debut for us was freakin Fatiaki....how many young kids have we used so far this year? Guys that Gould and Cleary SCOUTED and brought in cheap because we had salary cap constraints and have proven with development to be pretty good players.
Elliot had his freakin chance to put his structures in place...had a "warchest" and did sweet f**k all with the opportunity.
Gould/Cleary have come in...brought in young guys to compete, improved the lower grades, identified areas of weakness in the team and are focusing on improving them. We've signed four guys in their prime in the middle of the season that want to come here and play under Cleary...and people think Cleary is shit? Yeah Elliot had that sort of pull...getting us Adrian Purtell ffs.
Tough decisions needed to be made and they were made. Losing Flash and Lewis hurts...but it doesn't hurt as much as losing Alexander and Geyer did. It doesn't hurt as much as Ben Alexander passing away. It doesn't hurt as much as 1990 grand final loss.
We need to move on as a club and I definitely trust that based on the results we've seen as a CLUB this year...that we are heading in the right direction.
So the people who are posting pictures on social media outlets of taking their jersey's to the tip, to the people saying they are no longer supporters...good...f**k off. We don't want or need shit like that. And don't give me the "A real supporter can criticise too" bullshit. Yes...you can criticise...but at least stick solid and don't pick up your bat and ball and run to another team. That's just soft. Because all you were looking for was a freakin excuse. And the funny thing is you'll be helping the club you hate now in two years when you have to buy a new jersey because you were too stupid to throw it out at the tip to make a stupid point about a player wanting to move on because they've been here for 11 years in First Grade.
