Walsh might be origin dark horse...he is only 24 (turns 25 in a few months) Im suprised everyone has written him off so early in his career...
Halfbacks dont mature till 25.His best 3-4 years are the next 3-4 yrs to come. All the best im sure you will all be happy with him over the next 5 seasons

To be honest I think he could have been a top 5 halfback already if it wasn't for Elliott. Only time will tell whether Cleary can get him there now. He has the talent. Seems we've pinned our medium term hopes on him also..

Even if he was the form halfback and took Panthers to multiple premierships, NSW would much rather throw in bigger halfbacks then Luke Walsh. If Preston Campbell couldn't get a run for NSW in anyway, Luke Walsh would need a lot of injuries to the right players and ridiculous form behind him to make it.

If he can deliver us multiple premerships i would happily drive him to any origin game.MX you dont like walshy thats clear. Did he stand beside you at the toilets glance acroos and laugh. What has created the dislike

You should check your reading comprehension mate, I wasn't having a go at Luke Walsh there. The NSW selectors have shown a clear bias toward bigger players over the past decade or two and as a result Luke Walsh is next to no chance at being picked despite his form.

My only problem with Luke Walsh is that he has played more poor games then good ones for the Panthers, and I can't ever see him leading us to a premiership as a result of that. But if he finds form and starts to play well in 70%+ of games then I'll be more then happy to give him the benefit of the doubt just as I have down with Nathan Smith... and I disliked him far more then I do Luke Walsh as IMO he offered absolutely nothing in his first few seasons with us and if it wasn't for being buddies with Matt Elliott he wouldn't have been near the first grade squad. A bit like Adrian Purtell... only Nathan Smith eventually became a decent player.

Was not tackled once tonight according to nrlstats.com...

He wasn't involved in the game that's why. His jersey was still lovely and white when he came off. His effort in Graham's try was laughable. He stood and watched Gallen and came up with absolutely nothing, didn't want to get anywhere near tackling a Sharks player.

Travis Burns does so much work for you guys, he is basically playing 5/8 and half.
You could do worse than Burns at 7 and Austin at 6.

I figured this thread was going to be revived again...

Far as I'm concerned, until Seijka steps up and shows something our only option is to stick with Walsh.

Fact of the matter is...he is the halfback and whether the players around him play great or not it will always fall on his shoulders.

Tonight he was ordinary. But so were a number of blokes out there.

It isn't as though the Sharks are a shit team, they've won 3 on the bloody trot. They should have 4/5 wins to start the year...they are a bloody good team.

Fact is the team just wasn't committed enough tonight. Walsh was a big part of that lack of urgency. No excuse at all for his play and execution tonight. He has to play better.

He'll have a great opportunity for that against Manly next Monday to ensure they have their 4th loss in a row.

You guys must be a massive chance to knock Manly off. Foran looks to be gone, don't think Stewart will be back yet either. Not sure how long Lyon is gone for.
They are playing like busted's at the moment, Penrith are every chance to make sure it is 4 in a row for Manly....wouldn't that be nice. ;-)

So far he is still staying true to 2011 form for mine.

Kills it against the crappy sides. Does nothing at all against the decent sides. But i'd keep him against the Sea Eagles and just partner him up with Harry Siejka. Against a club in poor form with a proper halves partner, he would have to do better.

Harry Seijka can take over the goal kicking, Travis Burns can move to hooker and push Kingston to the bench. Travis Burns has been amazing this year and IMO hooker is where he would be at his absolute best.

 this thread is a classic. Stats wise Sharks had 53% possession & 2/1 tackles inside opposition 20. Yet only scored 2 tries does that mean Carney/Robson should be dropped?

Stats don't always tell the story. The play the balls were slow from both teams. Neither side had room to attack. He may not offically been tackled but like Kilkenny said he ran it on atleast 5 times & sent it wide to try something.

As for Siejka he's not creating much in 20's he just gives it to the bigger guys to break the line. In NRL the bigger guys don't have same impact (look at Hurrell 200 linebreaks in nyc. Struggling this year). He has plenty to do to be NRL standard.

Iv'e been hard on Walsh before but its hard when you have that genius Tighe outside you. He has to go.

Yeah. He & Simmons both have nothing. Until our pack starts winning some battles. It's hard to critise our halves. We get space they carve up. Again yesterday we were 200m short & as a result only got 4 linebreaks

walsh has zero run meters not good to see anyone have zero.Based on the fact we lost by 1 point i would not be dropping anyone other than brining tim grant in if back from injury

A few forwards weren't much better. Only Weston, Lewis & Austin had double figure hit ups Ciraldo 5 runs 39m. Newton 6 runs 54m. Simpkins 4 runs 25m. Achurch 5 runs 47m.

Compare to the backs: Coote 17 runs 205. Uaisele 12 runs 113. Jennings 18 runs 171m. Simmons 12. 96m.

I can't give it to half when we have no go forward.

He's just to skinny to break a tackle. Look at his legs for example. He's is not an NRL standard centre. Yesterday he was only outside back to not gain 100m. Only 9 runs. So we can't even say he has a heap of scoots
