Walsh is first grade standard and looks much better under Cleary. My biggest problem with him is his long passes are weak lollipops, Burns and Coote aren't much better either, we lack fluency when we go expansive, Lewis and probably Austin throw better long balls than our ball players.

Dear Mx,

You are right. I apologize.

Regards,
Frustrated Mick whose birthday was ruined by this shit team.

He was terrible tonight, but 2 things to consider:

1) I don't think he was 100% fit
2) When your starting props are Dayne Weston and Danny Galea, I don't care who they are your halves will struggle

What about burns. The bloke adds nothing besides defense. I think you guys are being unrealistic expecting Walsh to control the game to the same level of thurston, when his supporting half is burns.

The forwards were dominated most of the game. No go forwrd, usually results in performances such as today's game

Agreed, it Sjeika ready though?

Can't do any worse!

Siejka is a tough bugger at least. He will at least have a go.

I will say it yet again. 1.Coote 6.Burns 7.Walsh 9.Kingston is not going to get us a premiership or a top 8 finish for that matter...

I totally agree. And normally I'd be front and centre with that...but there were things tonight that really annoyed me with Walsh that I hadn't seen him do before.

He and Burns don't work. Burns is a hooker. He can't create anything from five-eight. Plain as day.

We looked most dangerous at the back end of last year with Seijka at five-eight and Walsh at Half.

How many times did we start a set from on our own tryline? How many quick play the balls did we get? Sadly not even Joey & Lockyer in the 1/2's would of won that game tonight. In saying Moylan needs a run VTK needs a run to. We need impact from the forwards somewhere? No Simmons will help as well

Are you suggesting Coote was to blame?

No. He & Jennings were the only 2 to play decent games.

I blame our forwards. They are the one's to not stand up in attack or defence. We let Manly offload at will. Let the kickers have space. compare that to them 3 or 4 in every tackle. Racing up to pressure Jennings & Walsh so we had no time. Where was our Buhrer or Watmough doing the same?

Our line speed was non-existant, Manly was making metres in defense on early tackles in the first half, rushing up and making good contact, our defensive line was sitting back and they were making easy metres.

Lewis is out of form, I wonder if the captaincy is a burden for him?

I actually think Lewis picked up a cork in the first half....he played on with it though.

I don't think it has anything to do with the captaincy. Look at the quality of his second row teammates.... guys like Clint Newton, Cameron Ciraldo, Danny Galea etc. are just fringe first graders at best and Luke Lewis is the only dangerous runner that opposition have to worry about. Our front row is also missing Tim Grant and while Dayne Weston has been massive this season, Sam McKendry hasn't played a great game since we played the Roosters.

That said we're still giving our halves more then enough opportunities to create stuff in the opposition 20. But Walsh keeps going back to kicks when we could probably score with a bit more patience and better ball movement. Jennings keeps getting the ball with no room to move, but still manages to look dangerous. Meanwhile if the ball is on the other side of the field, we never spread it all the way to Jenko when there's space and a genuine chance at him creating something. It always gets hit up in the middle for little or no effect when continuing to spread it would no doubt resort in a linebreak.
