There's not many hookers up for grabs unless NYC or NSW Cup has a good 1. Burns is the 1. Burns will atleast give aggression & decent passing.

Tonight 2 perfect examples that shocker for Burns try. a few sets later a shocker from the back of the scrum. Doesn't run the ball doesn't roll the player over. Burns is passing more but still not giving Jennings the quality ball he deserves.

Atleast with Walsh he controls the play & has a good kicking game. A few times he looked to run it. That's better then last year but got a rubbish pass from dummy half so stepped then kicked.

Walsh is rubbish and thats not ever going to change. Burns tries hard but is not an NRL 5/8
Seijka has to come into the team. This year is going to be a write off so may as well see what the kid has.

Walsh was so ordinary last night, but in his defense he wasn't getting very good service from dummy half.

His defense is woeful, deadset if they went down his side more oftern (defending in the centres) I reckon Josh Morris would've had a hat trick

I agree with many and said it last night too. Kingston was awful.

His service was pathetic.

Particularly inside the opposition 20...Walsh had zero time to work before the Bulldogs were up in his face as the ball reached him.

He has really regressed since signing his contract. I hope that we move on from him at the end of the year and focus on developing Nafe or maybe a Blake South to be the hooker our club needs.

Yeah I noticed that too Mick, Walsh had very little time to do anything inside the 20.

To me that's also because we don't have many points of attack

We should have. Lewis & Coote have the ball skills to be 1/2's. We have a 6 & 9 that should be doing a lot more. Inside the 20 Kingston never runs. Burns nevers puts Jennings into a gap.

Just those 2 doing that suddenly gets the defence second guessing what will happen. That then gives Walsh more room & then we can see what he has or doesn't have.

South played well for the 20's. Lenarduzzi for Windsor is decent & only 21. I hope 1 or both develop well over the season to push for the number 9 next year.

Short term Seluini off the bench. Burns to start either Austin or Siejka number depending on the make up of the pack. Start getting Walsh so decent service & Jennings 1 on 1 with his opposite or in a gap.

Luke Walsh's defense is terrible. He has no commitment at all. Would it kill him to take it to the line and try to make a line break rather than back tracking all the time? And is there any reason why in the frst set of the game he had to roll around on the ground for 5 minutes???

This guy is just a big nancy.... needs a massive wake up call. I thought last season he wasnt too bad but he appear to be carrying some injures and was hoping for a fresh and fit Walsh this season.... but seriously last night was terrible.

Does Walsh not know how to kick a grubber? Penrith are always trying for a bomb and a 50/50 chance of a try? Why don't we ever try to build some pressure in attack??

Heres to hoping Cleary will actaully make some changes at some point this season or Walsh will finally step up and be the player he should be.

to be a successfull team you can not have a half who refuses to run the ball.Only real option we have Austin to 5/8 burns to half

I agree with the bring back wadeo comment. Imagine this combination

1. Coote
6. Graham
7. Seijka
9. Burns
13. Austin

Gus is all for bringing up the juniors, how about bringing a junior back?

Maybe this Walsh bashing is unwarranted? Perhaps the bashing shound be moved to Kingston, good service = good decisions.

I have to say I didnt even notice kingston in the game at all, which says something about his impact

Alot better by all 3. Good to see Kingston run it made a great line break early on. Still a few errors but 200% better. Burns got more involved and used to ball. Still this needs to continue throughout the year.

That's better Walsh! Getting involved defensively. That vision to run it for Jennings 1st try. The same to run it on the 5th when Jennings put Uaisele over. Putting pressure on to pick up loose balls. Keep it going.

Walsh was pretty good against the Eels in Round 2 last year aswell. He was still absolutely shithouse as far as the entire season was concerned and so far he hasn't shown anything to suggest that will change this season.

The biggest issue with Walsh is he can play a great game here and there, but most of them are solid at best and a fair few are absolutely awful. With dominant games being the rarest of them all... even behind a dominant forward pack.

f**k Mx. Give the bloke some credit.

He had great service from dummy half yesterday (It is the best game I've seen Kingston play in 2 years so well done to Kevin). Walsh showed great vision and had a great platform to work off and he did well.

Even Thurston looks like shit when his service is crap from dummy half & his impact runners aren't getting involved.

I always respect your opinion but you are letting bias cloud your judgement on yesterday's performance and you are projecting ahead based on past data under a coaching regime that stunted creativity and ball-playing.

Walsh from all accounts was great in the trials, had a bad game against the Dogs in crap conditions, with players going down all around him & extremely poor service from dummy half, and bounced back yesterday to have a great game where he led the team around the park remarkably well.

Now I'm as cautious about his progress as anyone, but I'm not just gonna continually ride the dude when he doesn't deserve it and when his only bad game so far this year has been in terrible conditions with pathetic support play.

Here is a great concept in the meantime while we figure out if Walsh is a changed man under Cleary. Be critical when they deserve to be criticized....and praise when they deserve praise. Yesterday the team performance was great and a large part of that team success was due to Walsh. Give credit when it is due & stop bringing everything down all the bloody time. I mean seriously man...I feel depressed every time I read one of your posts and that was after a great win FFS.

You say he was shithouse all of last year after round 2 & he hasn't shown anything to suggest that will change this season. 2 NRL game sample size, of which 1 was outstanding & the other had several mitigating circumstances isn't a sample size to support your argument - But what it DOES support is my notion of letting it ride for a bit while we figure it out under Cleary & in the meantime analyse each performance on its merits.

I am normally fairly critical of Walsh, but he did play well yesterday. Last week against the dogs he was also knocked senseless in the first 10 mins, that along with the other injuries, poor service etc etc didnt help. I will reserve judgement for a few weeks yet.

Consistency.

Agreed but when you have a two game sample size under a new coach you can't just base everything off what happened under a prior coach.

Walsh had excuses last week.

this week with warm weather, fast track etc the team performing well even without stars...he dominated.

Yet there seems to be a need to diminish it and it is grossly unfair imo.
